Any of you idiots experience sleep paralysis?

What do you think the origins of it are?

It's extremely interesting that people experience the same 'demons.' One of them is called 'hatman,' a tall lurking presence that wears a hat. Thousands of people claim he's visited them. Reddit actually has an entire sub dedicated to it.

It's akin to DMT experiencers who claim to see the same 'entities.' Curious what the MISC take on this is. Would be curious to see how a hardcore atheist like Dawkins or Harris would explain this away too...

Only if I sleep on my back & nothing like the night hag, just when I am waking up & cannot move my eyes or body-horrible feeling. Always sleep on my left now.

I had it once, years ago. I had never heard of it at the time. It was terrifying. I'm a stomach sleeper, so I couldn't see anything. It just felt like someone sitting on my back. I shouted "get off of me!" and fought. At least I find comfort in knowing I'd fight back if someone broke in.

I find the phenomenon of sleep paralysis demons very interesting.

Why is it that the demons we see are usually scary in nature? Why don't we see beautiful women offering words of comfort?
Anyone else notice that when you experience this, you kind of have to force yourself awake to make it stop.
Kind of like you are pulling yourself up out of a tub of Mario's viscous butter or something.
It makes me think that if you just sat there and didn't try to wake up, that the demon would just kill you.

your mind wakes up before your body, and you experience paralysis (you're paralysed during sleep). You think you're going to imagine positive things when you're in this state in the middle of the night? Lol at thinking it's demons

source: I experinced SP alot, researched it, then induced it to enter lucid dreaming. Older I got the less it happens

Happens to me sometimes on early morning flights. No idea why but if I ever have an early flight out of Vegas and try to sleep it tends to happen. Sucks hard on a plane trying to wake up but you just can’t snap out of it.

So I had it happen last night. I used to astral project and lucid dream, and quit doing it after one time seeing a "sandman" on the bed next to me once I had left my body. I truly think astral projecting is just a form of lucid dreaming. Last night I was extremely tired and thought I was sleeping but still having thoughts. I looked up and there was a man with his entire head covered with a green scarf thing and a blue shirt. I freaked the f out for a second, but I couldn't move. Once the fear had come and went I got mad and wanted to fight but I still couldn't move, I raged til I finally woke up. It has haunted me all day TBH, not sure what it means.

closest thing to what I saw, but no face.

Been around for ages, but I don't think I've ever experienced it myself that I can remember. Creepy stuff...

Explain why thousands of people experience the same exact characters aka “demons.” Not saying I know, curious how you explain that

I've had it probably dozens of time throughout my life.

I remember the first time it happened I was in my teens, and it was scary af. I had no idea what was going on.

Now when it happens I'm aware of what's going on, but still can be unpleasant.
