Yes, I've been. It kinda sucks.
I guess it was cool to go once to check it out, but there are so many better places to go that are similar. And it's not actually that cheap.

Yeah, beautiful country. Spent 1 night in Havana, 3 nights out in the country (Vinales) and then another 2 on the eastern side (Varadero) where the foreigners (China, England, Canadians) vacation.
My favorite was Vinales, me and the sloot like the adventure/hiking. Didn't have a good experience in the "rich" part where its all inclusive resorts in Varadero.. Imagine a 3 star resort is what they consider 4-5 stars, not terrible, get's the job done and you make your own experience.
Nothing like hiking 3-4 hours into the wilderness (w a tour guide) and eating fresh food from their farm while they roll you a cuban cigar. Theres a general sentiment there that the government still pushes Fidel Castro and the people are "neutral." Theres no middle class, the second you drive out of Havana you'll see beautiful suburbs of mansions with a guard standing there at the driveway of each one. (srs) The cars are cool but you get over them when you realize they have no infrastructure and never installed catalytic converters so if you dont open the windows on a long drive you'll probably pass out from co2 poisoning (not srs, maybe srs)

My cousin went and he liked it. He hasn't traveled a lot though, so I'm not sure to trust his judgment.

Supposedly back in the Fidel days, a bunch of the cigar guys jumped ship over to the DR.
Cliffs:
Government cigars = Cohibas
Cuban-people/farm cigars = Purros
Both are amazing. But it's way cooler to say you have a Cohiba Montecristo, etc..

sounds like something i'd thoroughly enjoy doing (ded fkn Srs)
was the tobacco farm tour apart of your vacation or did you impromptu decide to do it as it was available?
