I pretty much went back to my roots of no news after the covid bullchit. 20 years ago I shut the news off when it came on. I hear a bit on the misc, and rarely click on news threads otherwise fuk sitting down and watching fake clownworld propaganda.

Yeah pretty much. I was basically getting my news from reddit for awhile, if it was happening in my country and interesting enough to talk about then it'd pop up on the local sub. But now I've been permad from there so I don't really follow much

Haven't paid attention to the news since I was a teen srs - even then I'd usually rather watch entertainment over news.

I think it was more useful, more matter of fact, back in the old days. Think about the mid-late 1900's without any internet, just the newspaper and the news station on TV. You'd feel sort of disconnected and unknowledgeable without it.

Fast forward to the early 2000's and information spreading has increased infinitely. Including biased, false, unverified information. And now more than ever, every journalist / news station feels pressured as all hell to be the first to make an article or get some camera time on it. Quality tanks. Bias grows more blatant. Subject matter becomes political and people's feelings overtake the facts.

Besides, the bigger, more important, and interesting news stories always rise up to the top of conversations of forum boards - no need to intentionally watch the news when it's already unavoidable.

People need to ask themselves how much brain washing they want on any given day. Clearly some of us are smart enough to not want any. Sadly plenty of people seem to want quite a bit daily.
