How da fuk do people spend thousands on mobile games?

I haven't spent a ton of time exploring mobile app games. I usually skim the top/popular games and will play a couple of them and immediately delete out of boredom.

Every now and then, I'll find a game that gets me hooked for 2-3 hours or so and drop a couple bucks. But that's pretty much it for mobile games.

Now I realize with computer games that the experience is more complex and can lead to high spending. Not proud of it but I've spent a couple hundred on items and shiet and not even a die hard gamer.

Which mobile app games capture people's soul?

It's basically just the result of predatory schemes for regular people who get sucked into some type of easy dopamine fix with the micro-transactions. Mobile gaming basically appeals to the masses, like you will get people playing them who wouldn't exactly be into gaming anywhere else. Even with a lot of console/PC games they can get people hooked on micro-transactions, but with mobile there's a lot of people who just don't know any better when it comes to cheap predatory schemes. It's sorta like how easy it is for scammers to scam old people.

The casino affect. They design the games to influence you to spend money. At first, progress is fast and rewarding. Then it comes to a craw without spending.

On top of that, the items you spend on have a RNG affect, meaning the good stuff has a 2% chance. So 90% it's garbage, 9% makes you feel like you got something, even though you didn't really...then the big prize you finally get makes you want to spend even more

Games are all taking on this form because people are spending more and more on this chit. For instance, I have been playing marvel snap. 6 months ago the game really took off. The devs re-configured the way the game works, and now its p2p. If you want good cards, you have to pay for them. Then, when the card becomes available for F2P, they nerf is so that its weaker and no longer worth much. In other words, the card's value doesn't last even if you paid. they release new over powered cards to sell every month and repeat the process

My advice is just stop playing these games. These young people are spending thousands and are extremely vulnerable to manipulation and exploitation. This drives up the demand and price.

I can't sit for more than 5 mins playing RNG based games. Gotta be some level of strategy and skill to them. Bought a Nintendo Switch because everyone was recommending Mario Odyssey... but it's 95% a treasure hunt. The old Mario games you jumped on chit, dodged attacking plants, threw some fireballs, climbed blocks. Sucks where gaming is headed.

exactly. gambling is addicting. same thing with all the new sports app: draftkings, fanduel, prizepicks, mgm, etc. sure, you can say that at least with those, you have a chance at winning some money or cashing out. and that's true. i think mobile games combines the casino & gambling effects with entertainment and gaining progress. you spend money for a greater chance to getting a rare item or a bonus, and then causes you to progress faster in the game. until you reach the next challenge...
