Can’t be the only one who finds The Rock to be incredibly disingenuous?
Even by celebrity standards.
His whole inspiration and “mana” routine reeks of phoniness.
His late night gym videos for ego boosting and not motivation for anyone that he suggests.
His supposed selfless acts of charity that he somehow always has to document and post about for validation.
His love for his “home” that is pro wrestling when it’s only been a payday opp on off time.
There are plenty of other examples. Just watch him talk about anything.
Have to admire his game for being such an awful actor, playing the same role every time, yet leveraging his image to become the highest paid. He clearly gets it. But authenticity is not one of his hallmarks and it’s surprising more don’t pick up on it.

It was hilarious when the WWF BS went down and they had to change to WWE - didn't Rock come back from Hollywood after ditching the business to tell everyone out the back that if their heart wasn't there get the F out?

He made a grave error voting for Biden and Kamala. I can’t wait until he eats his words after realizing what he actually voted for since 2020. Epic fail. He owes the fans an explanation and an apology. Srs
And he can burn in hell ffs.

"The Rock" Is his character and he lives the gimmick and protects his gimmick 24/7
Remember when Jake Paul met him and they had a social media moment together, to which the rock removed and asked Paul to remove after Paul got in trouble for hanging out in a forest with dead bodies (in Japan)?..now paul in working with wwe so I wonder how he will circle back to that clout chasing
He tried to take over the GI Joe franchise - didnt work. Tried to take over Fast n Furious, didnt work. Tried to take over DC movies..not only didnt work but also got Henry C. to lose several projects and his ex wife fired as a representative to Henry.
soon, the XFL will be struggling and you'll see the Rock line right up with Roman Reigns to keep his name out there

He's definitely a hustler trying to get up that ladder. He basically tried to take over the DCEU by appointing himself Superman's rival. The whole thing was really strange. Then the movie blew chunks and he distanced himself from it.
I've liked him for years, but I always go back to RR 1999 when he nearly caved Foley's head in. Forget what his explanation was, but that was one of the early signs that he was willing to step on others.

On a side note, im a comic reader - long time in fact. Generally speaking, the reason comic fans pushed back on the Black adam movie was because the Rock attempted to redefine the Character to fit what he wanted vs the history of the actual character. For example, Black Adam and Shazam are rivals much like Flash and Reverse Flash or Magneto and Professor X.
The Rock was supposed to be the bad guy of shazam 2, but veto'd it and any form of association with the character because he deemed it beneath him and looked at Superman as a proper rival for himself on screen, which doesnt work for the character itself..so it fell flat
Basically in the history of comics, there is no version of any story that Superman is challenged by Black Adam, beyond a small plot point for a bigger situation. The Rock not understanding that and making comments that with his involvement a possible MCU vs DC movie could exist, extinguished any confidence that particular fan base had in him

Attitude Era Rock was good. Not great, but good for the time. I was a Stone Cold and Angle guy. I just never have liked the Rock, however, has worked "The gimmick" into the ground and rides the wave all the way to the bank. He is just the face, Dani Garcia - his ex wife, is the brains behind the money and image etc.

Remember how he said we were all in this together during the Rona, and then proceeded to workout in his giant personal gym, and relaxed in his mansion?

for me it was when he bought Bruno the truck in 2021.
"I owe Bruno so much, so I bought him a nice truck" - don't get me wrong, it is a very nice gesture but he could have afforded to buy that guy a truck when he was wrestling full time.

I never liked this guy.
Talks about how much he struggled but was handed everything.
Even the fans saw the nepotism... remember the 'Rocky sucks!" chants.
Have to give him credit for reinventing himself I guess.
