"Shopping center giant Westfield is walking away from its San Francisco Centre mall, becoming the latest major company to leave the California city amid rampant crime problems.

Westfield confirmed to FOX Business Monday that the company and partner Brookfield Properties earlier this month stopped making payments on a $558 million loan securing the San Francisco Centre property.

Westfield's move comesless than a week after Park Hotels & Resorts announced it had handed two prominent hotels back to the bank. The real estate investment trust said it was abandoning the Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55, saying the city's streets are unsafeand expressing doubts about the area's ability to recover.

Westfield says the mall wouldonly be 55% leasedwhen Nordstrom leaves – far less than Westfield's other U.S. malls, which are 93% leased, on average.

"The Westfield San Francisco Centre is arguable the heart of retail in San Francisco," Dennis told FOX Business. "Another massive loss for the worst managed city in America. What's scary is we're nowhere near the bottom.""

It's interesting the mentality of leftists, **** like this happens, and they really don't have an answer for why it's happening, or they just ignore it, and talk about how everything is fine.

For example, I was bored, and went into a reddit, political forum. Talk about extremism, further left then individuals like Bodhy, Wincel, ****bag, Patty, etc.

I was banned in half an hr for having a different opinion.

They actually believed that Detroit was a safe, amazing city to live in......

the property should be worth the value of the loan probably more and therefore debt is paid.

nobody wants a chitty liberal arts degree that cost $150k in exchange for the loan it took to get it.

I joined Democratic Underground once and was banned after six posts. Dissent is not allowed there AT ALL.

Single-family house prices are volatile AF there, while they're still 10x more expensive than 25 years ago. That's been driven by world leading NIMBYism. 2020-21 San Francisco had 28,000 apartments/condos built and allowed a whopping 80 houses to be built.

In a couple of yrs SF will have less people than it did a century earlier. It used to be a place of openness, but it's become a place of complete intolerance.

LOL at how they changed counting the homeless so it was overcounted before. Many millions of people can tell you firsthand the homeless problem has exploded in recent years in SF. A decade ago Gavin Newsom as lieutenant governor said addressing homelessness was his #1 priority. He's been in the Governor's office since 2012. How has that worked out?

Along the coast it's all about exclusion, overregulation andmanagerial NIMBYism, which is why the high speed rail line was supposed to connect LA to SF a few years ago, but they're still years away from it even connecting some medium sized cities far inland. LA to SF? Maybe in 2040, and few hundred Billion over budget.
