Chilling with some Americans tonight

My wife has some friends from Albany who are visiting UK/Europe atm

They're obviously liberal but I was surprised at how mainstream their views were, zero wokery. I feel like we get too caught up with terminally online activists from both right and left who don't really represent the average person. Yes man lands on moon this is incredibly obvious but it was interesting seeing it in person

Thoughts?

Most people I talk to are pretty left except my best friend who is libertarian.

Online discussions suck because it is not a discussion. People try to do things for an audience rather than actually talk to each other.

What happens in the USA has a huge impact on them too.

All the money we print, exports inflation to them. The US backing Ukraine in the way it is has led to global inflation too. Lets not even get started on the endless refugee crisis in Europe after the US laid waste to the ME. How many coups and governments have not been toppled with our interference? Then there is the culture war, with the biggest export being culture through music, movies and TV series.

It may not affect them directly, but it does have an impact on their lives. It has a massive impact when they are the receiving end of the intelligence agencies looking to "spread democracy"
