So, if you haven't noticed, American media has been pretty silent recently about the alleged genocide of the Uyghurs in Xinjiang. We've been told Xi is a fierce nationalist and chauvinist who has interned and massacred Uyghur muslims. However, when pressed about it, it is difficult to find any estimates of the death tolls. But all of that aside, in light of Blinken's recent meeting in China and the media silence, we are presented with only 2 very unsettling possibilities:

1) China did in fact commit a genocide, as the CIA alleges, but now, in light of recent events, the US government has chosen to cover it up and stop talking about it and seek to restore meetings and cooperative dialogue with China. (Nevermind that we continued trading with this alleged genocidal state the entire time.)

Or

2) The allegations of genocide were fabricated and exaggerated. This then means the US government was lying to us the entire time and smearing its rival. Now suddenly, when it needs China's help and cooperation, it goes silent on its accusations.

So was the US government lying then or are they lying now? Where are the armies of outraged people protesting in front of the White House? Does no one care about genocide anymore? Remember, accusations of genocide are serious. It is among the most heinous of crimes.

And I can't help but notice that after the Ukraine war, many countries moved to officially recognize the famine, cutely dubbed "holodomor", as a genocide.

Either way, the issue is the media's ability to do a complete 180 on a dime. It tells us something about how manipulated our news is, doesn't it?
