50y.o. 25+ years training. My mondays are still the same... [pic]
Finding myself in that same grind. Alone in my gym, snapped this pic last night. Made me think of the many Mondays over the years. No one makes you show up. Haters will be haters. Say their comments... As if some pill will make you look like this. Ignoring decades of Mondays that came before.
Not my best at 50 but still in the grind doing the best I can. A little late getting 'in shape' for summer but still fighting to get there.
I would do this with or without the outlet of this forum. But still happy to be here and have some connection to others that workout. (I know there are still a few here). One can take in the world as they choose. I still choose to see the good and great. Misc is as you take it. Thank you for hearing me out.
Now today is tues, so what are you going to do with it?....

Just finished my stretching rountine and about to head to the gym. Counting my days until I can afford a similar home gym. The only part I dread about the gym is worrying about how many ph@ggit degens are going to be messing up my workout

I have been the same size for the past 7-8 years. I respect anyone's choices but I personally would never want to put on size that I could not keep with a 'normal' hormone profile. I am on TRT and I never saw the point, or wanted to be 'big' bad enough to run things that I just shrink back after coming off. Same with strength. At my age, being 'big' is not something I focus on. I just like to feel good and be healthy.I am also not really 'big'. I have not stepped on a scale since my physical in April. These days my weight just shifts with how much fat I allow myself to carry. Winter, I will hit 210-213. Summer shape is low 200's. I am slowly shrinking over the past few years since I cant really train heavy like I used to. I am guessing over the next few years, my 'lean' wight will be back down in the high 190's. Just facts of life. We all do what we can.

Working out, and fitness is the greatest equalizer of all. It is one of the things I love about it. No amount of money or success will get you anything with weight training. We all show up, and ALL have to pay our dues. None of us are guaranteed anything. Without the work, all the things that have come before are meaningless.
If people call you a 'mogger'....guess maybe you have gotten to a place where people appreciate your efforts. Certainly did not get here overnight. But we all still fight the same struggle. I respect the struggle and enjoy seeing others overcome their own.
Happy to be a part of helping others. Helping a few guys in their 20's and 30's right now. In the end, they have to do the work and show up, but feel honored and humbled that they ask me for advice...etc. Sharing common passions and struggles gives me the motivation as well. The common struggle is a awesome thing! It certainly keeps my batteries recharged!

A lot of our time has been spent working on his track car in the foreground. Now that we have a few months where we are not doing any events, we need to make a push to have it ready for fall. Motor and trans are back in, dry sump plumbing all done, and ALMOST ready for first start!

Last pics of me as lifetime natty below. The first 2 pics are the hardest I ever cut while natty. I was shedding mass like crazy dipping down that low. I was 194 in those pics.
I then went on TRT which cured my massive fatigue issues I was suffering. Did not have any sexual sides, just crushing fatigue. Like could sleep 12 hours and would still be falling asleep in the afternoon. It was truly terrible.
After going on TRT, I tried a few 'bumps'. What most would consider beginner stuff. 100% truth, I could not tell any difference. Even eating a perfect surplus for 12 weeks along with a mild bump, I saw nothing different. After dieting down, I MAYBE gained a lb or 2. I never had an interest in being 'houge' and I had no desire to take things at a level I could not maintain on 'natural' hormone levels. So I dont know what I could have done if I wanted to take the 'training wheels' off. But health was always an important driver in my decisions.
HOWEVER, over time cumulatively, it HAS made a difference. Mainly in allowing me to carry mass at lower bf levels. In the past, as soon as I dipped below 10% mass would shed like crazy. Now I can hold on to a lean 7-8lbs more that I ever could as a lifetime natty.
So my straight-talk is it has helped me carry more mass as sub 10% levels. But has not made a difference many would notice. Most here accused me of being 'on' LONG before I ever went on TRT. It was almost funny when I found out I had REAL low t. Like below the bottom of the scale level. Yet I still had a 405 bench and could pull 600+ at 198.
I am blessed with good genes for strength and mass. I am not a very aesthetic physique. I am boxy with narrow shoulders and thick waist, but certainly cant complain about much.

Dont think that was such a bad thing, since I had no responsibilities. Getting married changed that ....somewhat. But still those years of only thinking about what you wanted were pretty well ingrained in you.Thats good man, that puts a smile on my face. God knows we don’t have many good fathers nowadays raising their girls properly.

After having kids and giving myself to experience, it really makes you realize how 'un-important' you are and you do it happily. You spend years taking care of the needs around you. My wife took on the role of 'mom' leaving the work force. (She worked for a national bank and gave up any career plans to be there for our kids). I took on the role of provider to my wife and kids. (I freely admit I had the easier job).
But one day you wake up and realize that you dont think about yourself all that much. You dont really want anything. You always want for those around you. The joy that you used to feel doing things for you now comes from dance recitals and soccer games and silly pictures the kids draw for you at school. I think some guys fight back against that. They feel they are losing themselves. I kinda did the opposite. I just embraced it and have never looked back.
I did always keep working out as the thing for 'me'. But I did not find my way back until my kids were 3 and 5. "My" time. But I just always found a way to make it work around my family commitments. Kind of the reason I did not want to do more in the way of 'competing' back when I was doing more power based training. I feel like I had my time many times over and I was not willing to miss a soccer practice or take time away from my family. It was not a sacrifice. It is what I truly wanted.
Lucky enough to have a wife who has supported me through everything and been motivation for me to be a better man than I would have been on my own. My kids realize our family is a little different than a lot of their friends.
The biggest satisfaction I have ever felt is to pass the judgment of my children when they become young adults. Your kids see every side of you. They see your best and worst moments. There is no hiding anything from them. When they reach an age where they can think for themselves and they still want you in their lives after they dont really 'need' you, that is a pretty incredible feeling. I think it might be what I hold most dear in my life. Any other accomplishment pales for me in comparison.
I have seen some men fight against this. They stay focused on themselves and from outward appearances, SEEM happy. But I can not imagine the emptiness that must exist when their kids grow up to be strangers to them. Or they end up divorced because their focus was themselves vs their wife and family.
Just an older dudes advice. Very much as the commitment to the gym pays off but you still have to 'show up' each day year after years...>Such is the truth of being a parent.

Didn’t read the rest of the thread but let me guess, you’re claiming to have trained natty for decades, looked juicy af, only hopped on tEe ArRe TeE just a few years ago cause you had very low T. The reason you look like this is cause you GRINDED hard af, not cause of the injections in your ass twice a week
