ITT: plz estimate maintenance bf% and tips on maintaining conditioning (srs thread)
I finished my latest cut end of May 2023, entering uncharted territory conditioning wise. I am now currently the leanest I've ever been in my life. I was wondering if anyone might be able to guesstimate my current body fat % nearly 2 months post-cut? I'm also wondering if anyone who's ever tried to maintain a lean physique year-round can give me a bit of advice, tips, or point me in the right direction so I can set myself up properly for success? I'm done with 'bulking' and would rather focus on eating a decent amount of nutrient-dense foods and focus on my solid weight-lifting routine with a number of outdoor cardio-related summer activities. I've just never tried to actuallymaintaina lean physique before.
This is me a few mornings ago. Tan coming in. Left image is flexed, right is relaxed. Just before going to the beach for the first time of the season. I've been doing alright in the past 60 days and have only put on 2-3 pounds from my very driest/leanest at the end of my cut to my most bloated/water retention state a few days ago. I'd like to keep it that way.

Could never have achieved this goal without this forum, by the way. I learned a lot here in the past 10+ years. It's been a wild ride full of ups and downs but it feels nice to be able to have built something that is in stark contrast to what I looked like when I first joined and started acquiring knowledge here. I used to be 50 pounds heavier. That blows my mind now.
I'm going to estimate 12-13%. I still have a bit of loose skin/flab on my lower abdomen. Must have been from when I was a bloated hairy kunt with a 38 inch waist. Wait is 31" now. This is a photo of me 50 pounds heavier. Just fkn lol. Let it serve as a constant reminder of the progress a person can make if theyrefuseto give up.

Thanks, everyone. Alway remember -we're all gonna make it. Dedicate yourself fully and be consistent. Great things will come. It's never too late.
CLIFFS:
1. Please estimate my current body fat % in first pictures
2. Any advice on maintaining conditioning year-round?
Will rape thy anguses tenderly throughout the thread

How much did it cost? I recall your recent progress shot. If you're 13.2% then I think you're right, I must be around the 11-12% territory then. That's helpful, thanks!
Also, there used to be a lot more serious lifters here in the past. Mind you, Zyzz was active when I joined, so maybe that had an effect.

Still looking for a bit of guidance on how to maintain conditioning indefinitely. I've been doing lighter caloric days following a heavier one, incorporating low calorie days here and there, just stuff like that. I'm not religiously tracking macros anymore but I'm well-versed enough to know how much I'm eating in the general ballpark.

1. 10%
2. One carb portion a day. One cheat meal a week. Stay active 7 days a week no matter what. I lift 6 days a week and walk at a brisk pace 7 days a week. About an hour a day.
Eat the protein and in between meals healthy protein snack. Shake etc. Lots of water and good quality sleep.
You’ll be fine in the summer. Where you’ll struggle most is the cold long winters of the far north. When it gets cold and dark your body will want to store fat and you’ll be hungry and have cravings. Plus it will be harder to stay active outdoors so you’ll have to do everything inside a gym and that gets old.
No alcohol and no desserts/sugar.
For me. I was once 300 pounds. Lived up north. Now been in Florida 3 years and weigh 215-220 with 13%. I’m older than you and on trt.

Maintaining that leanness is not worth it imo unless you’re on assistance of course.

^ Thanks to everyone who shared info. I've lost objectivity over time and hyper-focus on small things like my lower abdomen fat so my perspective is all skewed. Sometimes I'll tell my wife I still have a bunch of body fat to lose or look soft and she'll tell me I'm insane, so it's good to get outside perspectives as well.
Right now my approach is to keep training intense and heavy, the way I like it really, and focus on nutrient-dense meals within a 7-ish hour IF window, between 11am-6pm. I usually have 2 meals and 2 small snacks. On weekends, I might make something 'dirtier' that I wouldn't normally work in, like a pile of tacos and a piece of cake. However, by sticking to my IF protocol, even if my dinners are generally larger and more caloric, I'm not eating enough meals throughout the day to do a bunch of damage. If that makes sense. I'm also a lot more active in the summer so that really helps.

Phone apps now use AI to estimate with a photo.
31" waist at 5'10"
13?
My impression is anything over 12% is "extra". If you do not notice any obvious gratuitous fat, you'd measure at 12%. Maybe say 13 if you notice flab on your stomach.

I would say lower, 10-12% range imo but obvs depends on what your back and legs look like. You're better off maintaining 14-15% for 2/3 of the year and then cutting for the summer than trying to stay shredded year round imo
“Steroids is now just a word that the lazy and ignorant use to describe any guy that has more muscle and dedication than them”– Mike O'Hearn
"I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."

When I tell people that I'm on a diet they think I'm actually insane, especially since my legs and arms are very vascular in real life. So now I just tell people that I'm allergic to certain foods or I'm a diabetic lol. (Ded fkn Srs)

^ I remember going through the incessant commentary in college every time I either brought my food in to eat lunch or politely declined the brownies or sweets people constantly passed around.
Oh, why don't you eat sugar? Come on, take a bite. Don't you enjoy life? Why don't you ever eat anything fun?Etc, etc, etc

I hear it from friends family and strangers with guts hanging down coming out of their shorts and with blood work that will kill then at least 20 years premature. But. I need to have some fun and eat a fookin donut. Hahaha

Great transformation, it’s inspiring srs. The turbo shred thread died off, I was hoping I wasn’t the only one still cutting. I’m not remotely as lean as you but I’m creeping my way towards 15% I’d guess.
Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women.

Based on these pics you look to be around 10-11%. I spent many years staying lean year round because there was always shows/shoots that I needed to be ready for. Staying lean made preps a hell of a lot easier because you're already ahead of the game. I would keep my intake around 200 cals below maintenance and throw in a little extra a few times a week. I didn't find it that difficult. The longer I did it my body seemed to adapt/adjust to it pretty well.
You've worked hard so treat yourself to 1 DEXA for the hell of it. It would be nice to have a record of where you ended up...think of it as like your certificate of completion!!
Nice job!

You look about 10%. Make sure know your new TDEE and that's about it as far as maintaining. Oh and still lift. Look good.

Dexa scans are also not accurate, just like other tools they are inaccurately accurate. Meaning if you use the same tools to measure yourself, the changes you see are accurate but the numbers you see are probably wrong. I hope that makes sense lol
Don't know if you have watched Will Tennyson but he has so many videos where he goes to the gym and they have a wide range of BF% estimates. Sometimes even low as 9% which is DEAD WRONG.
