Any job is suddenly a lot better once you don’t *need* it
Might be a range of reasons why you don’t need the particular job you’re in:
*independently wealthy
*recruiters or other competitors always trying to offer you other jobs
*you are otherwise set to retire
Whatever the reason, the day you no longer need the job, the job itself becomes way more enjoyable.
Tried to think of why this is, it’s not purely psychological. I think it’s because:
*you don’t have to take unjustified crap from people. Suddenly it’s ok to tell them what you think, or just ignore them depending on how much you care.
*you are in a position to call out crap from others without fear of meaningful reprisal.
*you can focus on work you like and avoid pointless administrivia
*you can dictate the terms of your attendance and work pattern, and those of your team
*there’s very little justification to go “above and beyond” to appease management. It’s rarely stressful “just doing your job” it’s all the other idiots who try to make your life difficult and now you can ignore them with impunity.
It’s a shame we can’t adopt this mindset even when we are dependent on the job for our livelihood.

Feels. Getting Sunday night blues thinking about being trapped at that windowless cubicle for the next 5 days around a bunch of annoying miserable cawksuckers I can’t stand in that cliquey corporate environment.
But gotta do it out of necessity. Such is life for a wagie.

Not really true that any job is better.
The difference when you don't need a job is you tend to only stay in a job that is rewarding beyond meeting some necessity. If I suddenly didn't need my wagie job that I have to go to tomorrow I wouldn't find it "better" on Monday. I would straight up quit on Monday because it's no longer needed.
The only thing OP has discovered here is when you no longer need a job you'll learn what you genuinely value putting your efforts toward which isn't remotely groundbreaking.

Aren’t you the one who had his mother smuggle vodka from Russia so you don’t have to pay tax on it lmfao

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

The work at WalMart is easy and benefits them in ways that they otherwise wouldn't get sitting at home. "Any job" isn't going to meet what they're looking for.

Completely agree. When you no longer need money, life becomes a million times better. You can actually work for fun.

I've experienced this when switching job. One time in particular my new job had a start date that was like 3 months away, and I waited until about 1 month prior to give notice, which means I had it as a secret for 2 months.
OP is 100% right. All of the sudden I didn't have to put up with chit anymore. And what was crazy is I really started to like it during that 2 months stretch, so much that I almost didn't quit when it was time.
