Name a tougher MF than Nick Lavery (Green Beret)

Meet a Green Beret named Nick Lavery. After losing his leg during a firefight in Afghanistan…he refused to be medically discharged.
This man now trains future Green Berets as a tactical combat instructor at Fort Bragg.
Right out of college, Nick joined the Army Special Forces.
His team was deployed to Wardak, Afghanistan which was a known dangerous hotspot for fighting.

Injury #1:
His first injury happened during a firefight when Lavery took shrapnel to the shoulder from a rocket-propelled grenade. According to Lavery, the grenade left a lemon-sized hole in his shoulderyet he refused to be evacuated. Nope, he simply plugged the hole with gauze and was eventually sent to Bagram Air Base to be treated for his wounds.

Injury #2:
Lavery was riding in a truck when another truck in his unit was hit by a roadside bomb. Despite the fact that enemies were firing at the truck, Lavery ran to the aid of his buddies. He quickly put-down two of the shooters and chased a third that tried to flee. While chasing the third shooter, he was hit by a bullet.
The bullet struck him the face…but he knew his teammates were in trouble, Lavery ran to the truck that was hit.

Seeing that the truck was on fire, Lavery thought the members of his unit were dead but he searched anyways. To his surprise, he found his Captain in the wreckage of the IED…and Captain Nieman was awake. Others in the truck were blown out of the vehicle, but they also survived the bombing. Nieman’s legs were severely mutilated and he had a severed artery in his arm. As this was happening, ammunition in the truck started going off because of the heat from the fire…yet Lavery found a way and rescued the Captain. Unfortunately, Captain Nieman lost the lower half of his right leg from the injuries but he credits Nick Lavery with saving his life.
At 6-feet 6-inches tall and a solid 270 lbs. with all his gear on, good ol’ Lavery was the only person big enough and strong enough to get the injured Captain out of the burning truck.

Injury #3 :
When a young soldier froze after an Afghan police officer opened fire with a machine gun, Lavery put himself between the teenage soldier and the shooter. Lavery tackled the young soldier and dragged him behind a truck for cover.
At this time, Lavery was shot in the legs several times and his femoral artery was severed. Lavery knew he would be dead in minutes if he didn’t stop the bleeding, so he grabbed a tourniquet and tied himself off. Some of Lavery’s team was killed, including the person that had taken over for the injured Captain Nieman. Eventually, about an hour after the attack, a helicopter arrived and Lavery was transported for medical care.
Staff Sergeant Nick Lavery not only trains future Green Berets at Fort Bragg…he plans to return to combat in Afghanistan.

“I would be on the next plane out. Someone has to do the job, and I take enormous pride in it.”

Long Cliffs:

- Becomes Green Beret
- One of the first deployments, ambushed & gets attacked by takes a frag to the shoulder that makes a hole the size of a lemon (couple of inches left and it would have hit the spine)
- Wants to continue the mission but team leader says fuk u, retreat
- Gets taken to hospital - escapes after 1 week on C130s to get back to his team
- Almost kicked out because he's a mad man
- Different deployment, I.E.D ambush on a leading vehicle with men flying everywhere, he jumps out of one of the vehicles in the back, goes to help his squad, eliminates 2 out of 3 guys. Third guy shooting his AK47 over the shoulder while running away hits him in the face severing an artery. Brah doesn't even realise, saves his commander from a burning vehicle instead.
- Gets taken to hospital again, gets half his face fixed/plastic surgery with only local anaesthesia as he wants to make sure he is cognisant to support his wounded team members
- Another deployment a local Afghani army guy goes rogue and starts blasting everyone during morning meeting. Kills like 12 US/Afghani guys, Nick goes to protect a young US army guy, gets blasted in the leg like 4 times. Severed femoral artery, leg mangled, bleeding like a wh0re during PMS. Takes some towels and shoves it up his thigh deep to stop bleeding. Gets taken to nearest hospital, doctors give him 6 litres of wrong blood type, almost ded. Somehow survives. 2 years recovery, they cut his leg off to stop bacteria.
- With 1 leg, works his way to get back to his SF team somehow, decides to finish dive school with only 1 leg (no-one's ever done it)

What a story.

Sounds more stupid than tough. Imagine volunteering to go & fight in a war based on made up intelligence Bush knew was fake, seeing your team blown to pieces & losing limbs, just so the US can steal oil & get rebuilding contracts after they knocked it down.

You lost your leg, one of your team shoots you in the face, the incompetent doctors nearly kill you & you still go back to fight again. Then the US suddenly flee & hand it right back to the mud people you were supposedly liberating it from-meaning it was all for nothing. Is he proud the military now looks like a drag show?

Yeah, you can see he is nuts looking at his eyes. When you are too much of a lunatic for the US military & they want to kick you out, then it is future going nuts with a gun & massacring US citizens problem.

Yep, the cave dwellers are the toughest. 10 years of the Russian army there & they couldn't beat them & ended up heading back to Moscow. Nearly 20 years of the US forces there & they ended up leaving & handing it back to them. You can't really beat an enemy that are prepared to blow themselves up & sacrifice their one life for the lives of 20-30 of your troops.

One Afghan who was supposed to be on his side shot his leg off and another Afghan who was supposed to be on his side refused to shoot the attacking Afghan.

Then they let the Taliban take right over again.

This isn't true. I had some friends who were soldiers who were staunchly antiwar and hated every second of it. One of them is still in the Army. Not everyone glorifies killing. Some serve out of respect for their country and a sense of duty. It's dumb, and we should really all demand better decisions from our leadership, but this is how it is. Same reason some blacks join police even when a huge number of police departments are hella fukin racist.
