Anniversary Season
Because some people make it.
Saw a thread elsewhere with a lot of people sharing how many years they have been married. Then just scrolled FB for the first time since Christmas, and it's that time.
26 years.

21 years.

27 years.

My would have been 26th just passed and would have been 18th is coming soon.
Congrats to the ones who have made it last.

Not afraid of "a black person", but also aware that in certain places that groups of people dressed/acting in a certain way should be avoided/treated with caution.
Where would I chat about all the varied stuff I'm interested in if not here? I'm not completely socially retarded. I have awareness about what can be shared with who and what just can't be said or shouldn't be because either the person has no interest, doesn't understand, or could get outright hostile.

I work very hard, career and finances are squared away, healthy and in great shape, no mental illness or drama, good family, and so on. My chit is together.
Girls don't care about any of that though. I'm in my 30s now and if so called "good girls" existed, I would have gravitated towards one of them by now but that hasn't happened.

Until death us do part is the traditional standard. Maybe the newer standard is until the kids are grown, or at least old enough to drive?
The longer marriages I've seen aren't all perfect or anything. I think it's more that both people are still "in" and don't quit.
- she is in her 60s, he is in his 70s...had children and raised them together, have lived in a few different places for his work, been through some financially hard times as he had a lot of layoffs in his career [engineering type, IT] and she was a school teacher...still together on their next chapter in a new state down sized into a smaller home
- another couple in their late 60s/early 70s...he was a tradie, she was a sahm then cleaned houses before training to be a physical therapy assistant which she did up to retirement, 2 daughters...at one point is was so bad she moved to NM for a while...he was physically abusive, but they patched it up and are still together
- she is recently widowed [70s], but they were married a long time, raised 4 children who all got degrees/are well employed...they had a small business together that went bust, had to pay off the debt, he was in that corporate life/engineer type and she taught HS English until both were retired...witnessed plenty of their fights/bickering as a kid, but they weren't ever nasty to each other or abusive and throughout I think they kept a good sense of humor
- widower of a 3rd marriage...still was pretty long...guess he finally got it right?; he is hard headed and bossy and can be a mean SOB + can also be an old school gentleman; I saw how he cared for her throughout her entire decline w/dementia until she passed- could never say he didn't take care of her
I could do more. I believe my one cousin has done well for himself. He and his wife are great together...they parent as a team and have good communication; 4 kids and the oldest ones are in HS.
