How difficult is it to start a clothing brand?
Started thinking about a business and clothing brands seem like a creative/fun way to make money. I could basically absorb most of the overhead expenses, all I would have to do is learn about tailoring, and start sourcing materials from a good vendor, create a website, and advertise aggressively.
Seems lucrative?

Easy to start, hard to be successful unless you already have an established brand that it will be related to or are already famous.
Have to find a niche that needs filled and get those people interested to even know that you exist.

This business model is known as "Private Label"
Step 1) Contact some clothing manufacturer in China and ask them to produce t-shirts and hoodies branded with your own logo
Step 2) Create a fitness related youtube channel and tell low IQ fans to buy your apparrell
Step 3) Get rich
As you can see, this business model has already phased out. It no longer works.

I disagree, extremely easy to make money if you have a good idea or logo
1. Screenpress and do this yourself plus buying the shirts and ink
2. Drop shippers also do the above for you and make it easy by selecting Gildan or other t shirts, all you need is photoshop and probably the same amount of money as idea 1
3. Stencils and spray paint, cheap paint gun and Walmart or something cheap, no joke seen some cool ones done
Have fun, and you are the marketing for free, eventually build a cheap website if you enjoy what you're doing

There's so much meat on the clothing bone. I walked into a Tommy Bahama mall store this weekend. Saw a pair of nice white slacks. Checked the tag. $130. Immediately Grandpa Simpson'd out of the store.
I guarantee that chit cost $10 max to sew in a 3rd world sweatshop. Yeah, you have eye bleeding mall rent to pay, but with margins like that? Fuaaaark.
A guy started up a business called Untuck It. They make dress shirts with short tails that "are meant to be worn loose and untucked!" IOW, they are cut to fit manlets.
Bruh took normal ass dad plaid shirts and oxfords, cut the bottom 2 inches off them, and sells them for $100. And his business is worth a phuckin billion. All built on the fashion ignorance of short guys and the men's-fashion ignorance of their Karen wives. It is literally brilliant.
I'm wearing one right now. Got it for $30 on Ebay. No complaints.

I had one years ago, but I did a lot of things wrong to write here.
The key is the branding; if you don’t already have an online presence, that’s where the work needs to be focused on. The branding/presence is what will do the selling for actual merch.

Starting? Not at all. Marketing and making it successful, very difficult.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
