North Sentinel Island is the one time when I think intervention is moral. We should invade them and take their kids away. Put them in school. Give them a real life. It is unconscionable for humans to live that way. I do not respect a culture from the stone age.

idc about killing missionaries. I just think it's a waste for those kids to grow up in that situation. Dying of preventable disease and living in that way...There's a point where there is no equality of culture. When you have people actively stifling progress of humanity, there is a duty to act. And unlike Afghanistan and chit, this is something we could easily and concretely achieve. Maybe it's a bit inhumane, but the end would be far more humane.

First of all, there's only reported to be maybe 20-35 left. Second, it's claimed and protected by India and anyone landing there on purpose or by accident is fuked and is violating International Law and Maritime Law. Whilst I agree with leaving uncontacted tribes alone, whether on North Sentinel or rainforests of Amazon, I sometimes wish a team with full kevlar body armour went in there with a gopro and recorded how these people lived just to see what it was like 10 000 years ago. I guess they can still overwhelm you and cook you alive on fire even through the bodysuit but arrows/axes can't penetrate.

It's probably only a matter of time until some youtuber takes their drone over the island for likes though.

It's basically the ethics of Star Trek's Prime Directive, which is notably the most violated law on the show. Because it is obvious that when you can help and make a difference, you really should. Granted, this type of thinking can lead to crusading and warmongering. It needs to be concrete, achievable, and with minimal bloodshed.
