The 'Tiger Woods' of 10 Pin Bowling is Australian, and bowls with 2 hands

Jason Belmonte, from Orange NSW. I'd never heard of him until today.

The Man Who Broke Bowling
Jason Belmonte’s two-handed technique made him an outcast. Then it made him the greatest—and changed the sport forever.

As chance would have it his dad opened a bowling alley in Orange NSW when he was a kid, so he started as a toddler.

Here he is scoring 300 (max score) just last week. Watch what the spin does to the ball right at the end.
Belmonte’s rev rate, which topped 600 per minute when he first joined the tour (most players averaged somewhere around 350-400 at the time), was otherworldly.

He's a member of #sharkcrew
Belmonte realized he could feed off the criticism, like a shark circling a tour boat, devouring the freshly tossed chum.

Really if his dad didn't own the alley he'd be a bowling nobody. Not saying he doesn't have great talent but he likely never would have developed it.

Yeah apparently all the kids grew up bowling in the town, the bowling ally was like a "youth group" for the kids to hang out

I talked to him for about 55 seconds at a PBA event once, Absolute gentleman. Him and EJ Tacket throw about the same hook (or they were when I was watching)

The problem with the event I was at is that, It was qualifying, So there was literally 100 people bowling, And it’s slightly underwhelming. I imagine if it was the finals and tv broadcast that would be great.

I did see him before. 10 years ago now he was on a local current affairs show.

An exciting glimpse of the life and stellar career of Australian bowling sensation, Jason Belmonte will be televised nationally this Sunday on Seven’s top-rating SUNDAY NIGHT program.

The Seven network continues to score resounding ratings wins in network, primary channels, multi-channels and demographics, every night and every city and this popular program that reaches an audience of close to 1.2 million will air across the country at 6.30pm this Sunday, 24th March.

SUNDAY NIGHT’s preview headlined TOP OF THEIR GAME reads … “See the untold story of two Australian sporting exports hitting the big time overseas.

“On Sunday Night meet two Australian men from different worlds. One can bench press a whopping 270kgs and is dominating American college football. The other is a father of two, passionate and wildly over the top – revolutionising his sport.

“Both have one thing in common – they’ve hit the big time overseas.

“Meet 22 year-old Jessie Williams, known as “Tha Monstar”. Meanwhile Jason Belmonte is a bowling phenomenon, a world champion. But his very unorthodox two handed bowling style is leaving his American opponents scratching their heads.”
They featured 2 up and coming Aussie sports stars. One was Jason, and one was 'Tha Monstar' who was gonna make it big in the NFL.

Monstar stuffed his knee ego lifting in the gym and become a nobody!

Not sure I'd call that 'bowling'.
