I have my own rules I like to break every now and then.

On the flip side though, I am super excited about acknowledging other peoples’ rules are not my rules.

Hot take, what I am about to say will not be easily accepted and I imagine I will be ridiculed for acknowledging it.

I don’t owe anyone anything. I have not entered a legally binding contract with anyone other than who I have entered legally binding contracts with.

I don’t owe you holding the door. I don’t owe you moving to the inside lane so you can merge from the on ramp. I don’t have to give you a thank you if you hold the door for me. You chose to do that, I didn’t ask you.

We could go on, but you get the point.

Sinning is a big one for this. A large number of sins are laughable at best. To even consider that it is a rule God made is hilarious.

I imagine a lot of people don’t like that, or that someone could even consider that behavior to be okay.

Which I understand. I want to be a respectful person and so choose to be.

In most circumstances, I would love to hold the door for you. It would bring me joy. I am grateful for anything anyone does for me BECAUSE I KNOW THEY DON’T OWE ME ANYTHING. So I say thank you. Of course I do. And I appreciate when other appreciate my efforts, so when I am thanked, I ensure to respond appropriately.

I don’t have to. I choose to.

That is how I do this. I understand I don’t owe anyone anything, Only because I do not have any expectations from anyone else. How rude would that be of me? To expect a stranger to follow my ideas and values? A source of stress for us arises when we try to force our personal standards on other people. How many of you are mad right now that I acknowledged I do not have to say thank you if you hold the door for me? People will literally fight over this. Yet still, there is no requirement.

I understand we all walk around with subconscious expectations and we are constantly trying to predict the future. When the surrounding environment does not match these ideas, it can be frustrating.

It is understandable.

I would just keep in mind, no one owes me anything. At all.

Yes but your question is kinda pointless without your own list. I do follow a set of rules, but never put it on paper

1. Never trust again someone who broke your trust

2. Never give attention to attention-seekers

3. Never wank the day before an important event

4. Never wank before a date

5. Always leave if I see a baby coming in. Always assume they are noisy bastards

6. Always clean the dishes as soon as I finish eating. Hate the smell of dirty dishes

7. Always read between the lines. Body language and psychology reveal much more than spoken words

No. My psych profile fits a certain... "moral flexibility" would be the only way to describe it.

I don't follow any of life's conventions/expectations of others. I go by my own moral compass(high) & most things that interest the majority don't interest me, nor does the way they behave.
