Jury Duty next week

Anyone ever been selected to be on a jury?
Not looking forward to missing out on making money next week, even if I don’t get selected I’m out $hundreds per day.

I went to selection not too long ago. They got to to the part where people gave excuses, there were a LOT of legit excuses, started to sweat as half the pool dropped. Then the lawyers got to ask questions I guess to seed people out. The prosecutor lawyer asked something about if anyone had a problem with government regulations, I look around and raise my hand, legitimately the only one (town of liberals), and go up to the mic and basically do an unhinged miscer far right rant in front of the whole court about the government. Lawyer bro is like "uhh ok" while the other one (defense lawyer) is just smiling and nodding. I sit down, and when the time comes, they go through and pick the first twelve people in the pool except for me (number six).

I've been called for it once and was told to leave after a few hours of waiting and never talked to anyone. I would literally tell them I'm racist if interviewed. (Ded fkn Srs)

I've been selected 3 times. Srs, vry srs. My experience is you will be filled in a room full of boomers who are clueless or in a room of boomers and a couple brahs and sloots. If it's a legit trial and goes weeks......sloots gonna get it.

I got called last summer in S Cal.

Wasn't bad at all. Had to go 2 days and it is basically....

you sitting and getting instructions

going into the court room and hearing what the case is about

attorneys starting to pick who they want on the jury

People getting elminated

I was down to the last 10 and was happy I ended up not getting picked. I knew they wouldn't being an in shape straight white guy. Only regret was there was a super super hot Asian girl who was part of the jury pool who was making obvious flirt signs to me and I did nothing. Happily married to another great looking Asian but wow she was hot.
Words to live by...."You're at the shopping mall with your girl but a hot chick walks by. Are you going to look at the hot girl? No. You use your peripheral vision."

answer all the questions as an extreme far right wing, iron fist, law and order, pro death penalty fanatic would. no defense attorney will want you.

and remember, Jerry - it's not a lie if YOU believe it.

Last time I went there was this guy who was SUPER friendly with everyone. You could just tell this guy lived to be on jury duty. It's like going to JD was this only guys true purpose in life. So we all get into the courtroom and they start calling people up for the juror box. Then when they go through who isn't able to serve based on the background of the case of course it's THIS guy who gives some excuse and happily leaves out of there. Honestly had me confused as fuk. Fortunately for me they got their 12 jurors before I was called to sub someone leaving.

Served on a couple of DWI cases and those went smooth enough...we went 1 guilty and 1 not guilty.

Then later that month, served on a simple assault case and that one was a fukking nightmare. Think "12 Angry Men" but imagine the Henry Fonda character was a self centered yuppie prick who would yell on their cell phone (this was circa-2000) every 30 minutes and was basically the prototypical BMW driving douche...we had 2 of those on that jury. We deliberated 8 hours and deadlocked. Worst day of my life.

I have always been excused. My work has a template that they send to the court. It's great.

What's the process of being excused in the US?

I've been asked to go in twice but never selected, thankfully.

If you are selected to go before the judge, just tell them you have a "conflict of interest" and that you won't be able to find the accused, guilty, or go against them due to impartiality/bias.

Had to testify in a federal trail a couple months ago as an expert witness and the jury pool looked like a group of societal rejects lol

Supposed to have it a few weeks ago. Had to check online every day to see if they wanted me the following day.

never did have to go it but had to check daily for two weeks which sort of sucked.

I’m alarmingly far right, so if I speak my views I probably won’t be selected. But I also want to make sure criminals get convicted, so part of me wants to be selected. Guess I’ll just see what happens
