Evolutionarily speaking it is a 'winner takes all' market for men. In the past before monogomous marriage it would be the strongest in the pack, tribe, whatever conquering, killing, and having a group of women at his disposal. Those women would in turn sleep with him as well for protection, resources, etc. In the centuries since largely thanks to religion and law/order we have developed more equality here. Women and men pair off 1 on 1 instead of the previous one guy rotating often times 100 women like Gengis Khan. But biology is a bitch and you cant rewrite thousands of years of programming.

This is not to say men are much better. We are programmed to spread our seed far and wide. So women want chad, men want every woman, and this underlying relationship explains most dating dynamics today. (ex: women have too many matches on tinder, holding out for perfect guy. Meanwhile men swipe right on everything but if you are average dude you get zilch)

Think back to the 2000s, 90s, or 80s. If you are a girl you would maybe meet a guy through work, at a bar, or at a common social circle. He may not check every single box but your opportunities to get a decent guy were pretty sporatic (unless you lived in a meat market like NYC) so you would put aside differences and accept shortcomings.

Dating apps introduced 'liquidity' into this dating market to use a finance term. If a woman, or a top tier guy, gets bored they can replace you not next month, not next week, but tomorrow. Best part? They can do this from your toilet. So now your standards rise and things you used to let slide are now deal breakers. He has to be X height, he has to have X educational background, he has to be clean, well dressed, etc. If he isnt fine, a better guy is a swipe away. If you get sucked hard into the dating apps then you will be in a perpetual cycle of meet girl/guy, date for 2-3 months, grow bored and realize they arent perfect, dump and look for next perfect person to restart the cycle. Of course the perfect person doesnt exist, and if you meet someone who checks every box there is a good chance they are out of your league and courting other women or men as well.

Not saying dating apps are a net bad. It helped my dating life tremendously when I was single. But it's a significant evolution of the dating market for sure.

Drug dealers are usually providing something to these girls. Either free drugs or a fun environment. And they don't work a real job, so have lots of free time.

Most guys focus on $$$ but providing a 'fun environment' is a far more rewarding and easier way to get women. Women adhere stricly to hiearchy, almost to an hilarious extent. Create one where you are at the top and things will naturally fall in place
