I now realize why a lot of lifters are "strong" but not STRONG
Lifting trains your body to be strong at particular movements, like bench press for example, but these movements don't really translate well to functional strength if all you do is lift. A professional deadlifter might be able to deadlift 1000lbs, but a wrestler might still be "stronger" when it comes to wrestling. Just an example. Just like how benching 500lbs doesn't translate to being able to do a lot of pushups or punching power.
But this is also why athletes mix weight training in with training for their sport, because they carry over.

Different types of strength.
You ever tried rock climbing?
First time rock climbing I had been at the gym for a few years by that out but it’s all down to finger strength not overall.
