Bro’s with bad home gyms. Get a membership somewhere srs.

I was using a poverty bench and dumbbells for 2 months or so to get back in shape. Felt sore the first week, but nothing after. Went to a real gym a couple of days ago. Everything hurts. What a difference.

Bad use of apostrophe, in title, but you get what I mean.

And for the record, this is what I mean by poverty.

That’s everything.

I know a lot of miscers are set on free weights, and I used to be too. I’m starting to appreciate machines more though. The variety is nice.

It’s underrated, but I think a lot of us respond to people around us. Whether you focus on women or on people who already have your goal physique, it definitively pushes you. When you see kids pushing 275 on a bench easily, it hits home. I think we need to see that stuff.

If you want to be in okay shape and look better then the majority of the population a gym isn't needed. However if you want to have an aesthetic physique with good proportions and size, having access to different machines will make a huge difference in your physique. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

I use the fitness center in my building which is decent but lacking a bench or squat rack. Every once in a while I’ll get a day pass at a local gym to use that equipment but most of the time the last thing I want to do after working all day is fight rush hour traffic on the road to fight human rush hour traffic inside the gym.

I hear you, everyone has their circumstances. I had to have my kids sit by the front desk so I could use the gym. It didn’t feel good making them sit and wait for me, but I knew I was getting nowhere at home, and can’t get a good setup anytime soon. We work with what we have. I’ll buy some 50-85lb dumbbells soon, but it’s still a weak replacement for the real deal.

Only issue with commercial gyms is you have to go late af to ensure the equipment will actually be available

If I go any earlier than 8pm then all you see are gangs of zoomers hogging the bench and sloots doing #456 hip thrusts on the squat rack

chit is a circus

Yeah, zoomers were all over the place when I went. And I saw the trope of the woman doing low weight squats at an angle that faces the whole gym in see-through yoga pants. I thought it was just an internet meme. It was legit odd, since there were a million other places to do that in the gym. And to be fair, there were a lot of dude nipples pointing out of stringers. I was just happy to finally lift a weight that was heavy.

Fuark I'd get two 5 gallon gas cans and fill them with wet sand and do farmers walks on that fukkin treadmill. Toss in a pullup bar and a poverty barbell and you'd be all set.

Peak hour rush for equipment

I hear you, but I bet your setup is much better than mine, and a lot of miscers just have the basics. One of these days I’ll have a mogger home gym, but it will be a while.

The only way a home gym makes sense is if you live in the middle of nowhere or if you are busy as hell with family and would never have time to workout if you didn't do it at home.

Otherwise, a gym membership is like $15 per month. Probably the best money I spend each month.

Got a decent setup - recumbent bike/power rack with dual cables/tilt bench with leg curls/olympic dumbbells/ez/barbell/8 plates+ 2 of everything down to 0.25kg except 15kg/bowflex 90lbs dumbbells with the stand and a heap of accessories for random chit.

Not as good as a gym but gets me by. Worth the investment OP imo.

But I never could have gone to the gym as weak as I was in March, took me 6 months to build up the courage and get a decent base

I use a public gym on occassion.

I'm pretty surly by this point in my life so I can't watch some bro occupy the plate loaded row for 30 minutes without a stream of obscenities going through my head.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.
