The shocking truth about tipped workers in America
In all 50 states of US, every tipped employee is LEGALLY REQUIRED to get at least the "full regular minimum" wage which means $15/hr in NY, MA, CT etc etc and $15.5/hr in CA and so on. So basically if a server gets low tips so that she ends up earning a penny less than the full regular minimum wage, the employer will be forced to compensate her until she will have earned at least the full regular minimum wage for every hour she has worked.
Tipped workers in US have been lying to everybody for decades while crying that without tips, they'll only make $2/hr and can't feed their kids or family. Why did we let them get away with those disgusting lies? Please remember that UNLESS you actively stop tip beggars, they will never stop. Generally required tips used to be 5-10% back in the day and they started begging more and made it 15% and it has gotten to 20% now. They will NEVER STOP unless you stop them by actively tipping $0 ALL TIME. (I have been doing that for years now).

It's still $2.13/hr base pay for servers in most states. And most states don't have a min wage above the federal min wage. Tell us you're broke and can't cook without telling us you're broke and can't cook.

Let me say something to people like you. Instead of lying and crying about how you make $2/hr(nobody makes that due to the legal requirement that I explained), why don't you try to be more honest?

You perhaps wish they were paid an hourly wage instead, but if they are the prices of the food will be higher. If you're leaving no tip at a sit down restaurant you're like a welfare person, relying on strangers at other tables to make up for your cheapness. You could just make food at home instead of your meals alone at a restaurant. It's a fun skill when you're good at it. People who make a decent wage don't complain about this topic. I'm not making fun of you for being broke, as that's life on hard mode and broke people seem to be a growing part of the population.

It boils down to an employee choosing a career path where if they are to make a cent above minimum wage it is purely based on the generocity of the customers. Imagine choosing a minimum wage job, then bishin about it when random people dont just give you more money for doing what you are already paid to do. Not to mention it takes virtually no skill to be a server unless you are at some top .1% fine dining where you gotta actually know the menu/sourcing/presentation/ect.
Isnt it funny that you can walk into a fast food place and order, get your food and eat it, then pay for the food. But if you go next door and the employee leaves the counter and walks 16 steps to your table suddenly you owe them money? lmao. Even better when its coffee or they put in the effort to put the muffin in a bag and theres a tip jar lmao.

9/10 chance this alt OP is Ozzydio, who has another active thread about tipping right now. Maybe 3 threads will be even better.

That's not shocking at all. Only total idiots with their heads burried completely into the sand still think that waiters/waitresses aren't required to make at least minimum wage, with the employer expected to make up the difference.
What really shocks people is when they find out that there are states where restaurant servers are required to make minimum wage as base pay from their employer PLUS tips. So, on good days, some of those wait staff who talk about making bad money end up making $25 - $30+ /hr after tips are factored in. Most people doing table waiting jobs in those states aren't make much less than at least $20 /hr or more unless business is really slow.

There is no incentive to do a good job when tipping is removed.
If we remove the tipping thing it will 100% lead to higher prices and much worse service.
Also the people who currently work for tips wouldn't like it either so we would have less quality servers as well.

You aren't tipping for the items value (pizza in this case) you are tipping for the time YOU save and the service. Secondly, if you are generous the driver's time. 10Kaday ceos shouldn't be concerned about $5 anyway.
Proof is simply ubereats, doordash ...it is cheaper for restaurants to pay them a hefty fee than set up their own delivery service. Also that is why delivery services have such low standards for hiring they need ex-felons, degenerates to not understand that making $ does not cover the real costs of delivering. they need the dumbest non-mathcels ever to do it....however its also largely due to many of these app-drivers are unemployable (drugs, laziness, etc.)
talked to some delivery trucking company years ago and they blackpilled me about the true costs. it is extraordinary. only reason amazon, etc. make free deliveries is cuz they have huge volume and all kinds of subsidies (btw domino's is subsidized by the dairy lobby as well). USPS has long beared the brunt of amazon's profits. So essentially that free-del is subsidized by the US taxpayer.
there is a misconception that delivery guys are like in the movies ..stoned, make a lotta cash, ez deliveries...maybe some are but in reality its not like that. most have time-deadlines and other deliveries.
All of this free-delivery business was set during simpler times and its become very inelastic for businesses to even consider asking customers to pay up. AGAIN, it is extraordinarily expensive except for unicorn deliveries that are closeby and multiple in number.
cliffs: the greatest value is the cost of an american postage-stamp for a letter across the country.

Everywhere outside of the U.S. and Cananda manages fine without tipping. It's time for us as a society to drop the cope that tipping even matters in 2023.
The quality of service arguement inherently goes both ways, anyway. If a waiter/waitress is less motivated because of lack of tips but gets a bigger base pay, you could argue that they would also be less inclined to be asssholes towards people they don't think would give them nice tips.
You said it yourself at the end of your post when you said people who make tips as regular part of their pay don't want to get rid of the system - it's because they know damn well that the tipping system allows them to make a lot more money for the work than if places just charged customers more upfront and paid the employees accordingly. So they can shut up with the endless crying about it.

They are not lying.
They are being lied to by their employers and are too ignorant/brainwashed to do anything about it.
Like all of us to an extent.

I'd bet if one sweater in a pile accidentally has a $30 price tag on it while all the other identical ones have the correct $70 tag you spend half an hour arguing with the manager about how you should only have to pay the $30. Thanks for the laughs.
