Are you in favor of a 32 hour work week?

I think within our lifetimes this has the potential to happen. There was a bill proposal earlier this year, it didn't pass, but the fact that it was proposed at all kind of seems to track in that direction

92% of companies who started the 32 hr work week kept it, according to a study.

Companies continuing with 4 day week: 92%
Average revenue (vs last year): +35%
Number of staff leaving job: -57%
Improved physical health: 37%
Improved mental health: 43%
Absenteeism: decreased
Reduced Burnout: 71%
Reduced Stress: 39%
Hiring: easier

Compared to COVID, 32 hours would probably barely disrupt the economy.

I'm a fan of it, but I'm biased. I'm paid hourly in an industry that typically offers overtime and 24/7 365 coverage. I think this could only mean more $$$ in my pocket, because anything above 32 would be considered overtime.

For many industries this won't work. Services, manufacturing, etc. have overheard that needs to be covered by 5 days of productivity. If people are working less, prices go up.

No. But for myself I already do this or less.

Normal brokies should have low minimum wage and work 5 10 hour days. These are our slaves and we need them just tired enough that they dont think of moving up.

i'm salaried and work 50 hours/week as an engineer. if the work week would drop to 32 and i could get those 18 hours in overtime, would take it in a heartbeat.

How is a business gonna come up with the capital to pay someone for fourty hrs of work when they're only working thirty two hours?

And how come progressives never practice what they preach, start their own business and show us all how it's done?

the people who want 32 hours a week do not understand they will be paid less, thats the funny and brutal part if this goes through lol

some companies purposely do not give full time hours so they dont have to give full time benefits, they just hire a couple extra on the bottom to fill the gaps/holes in the work week

Imagine saying with a straight face that you want to be paid for 40hrs of work, while only working 32hrs, especially if you swipe in and out for your job.

This. Less work = less pay. 40 hours a week for 48 weeks with two weeks for summer and winter vacation comes out to 1920 hours or around 80 total working days a year. Using 32 we get 1536 hours or 64 working days. So that's 2 weeks of pay you're missing out on. In today's economy that makes a big difference. Maybe not in Europe but in the USA most people who lose two weeks of pay would be hanging out in tent city.

Plenty of people are already working under 40 hours. Like 32 is really going to make much of a difference.

I've heard of quite a few clinics I work with that take Friday's off the way it is. AI is supposed to make everything so much more efficient. So are we really going to continue the slave like labor work week? I'd think it's only a matter of time. NZ already doing 32 hour work weeks for a long time.
