So I dunno where the concept of "elevated thinking", and Progressive woke God comes from, but I have college educated, rational, smart friends suggesting that we must use not only the Bible, but a series of resources, such as "science and psychology" as my friend puts it, and apply it as a lens to reading the Bible in 2023.

How is 2023 any different than Roman / greek times with homosexuality? A lot of arguments of this was in the old testament (clearly not true, look up the dozens of verses in the NT), but again, what does that matter going down this line of reasoning? I mean... homosexuality was around thousands of years before even Rome with Sodom and Gomorrah, so my point is, it's continually been around when all these different verses were written as the Word of God... so what kind of argument is it to say that was then, this is now? It sounds like a illogical fallacy, can anyone offer any insight?

Here's the deal. You can engage in degeneracy on the gamble that there is no God. And you can engage in degeneracy on the gamble that there is a God and he will be forgiving when you are judged. But you can't engage in degeneracy and pretend like its ok because you interpret it that way. And you mislead others into believing its fine.

but people are basically using a progressive, modern day lens to re-interpret Bible verses to fit into their warped and brainwashed moral standard and worldview. Which seems to change every 5 years or so. Much like science, which also seems to be changing at the same rate, not to mention it being influenced and corrupted. What will be next on the progressive train? Love they neighbour literally meaning go smashing the neighbour's wife? There is no end to it.

It should be the opposite, how use the teachings of scripture and applying it to the 21st century, not how to take 21st century values and superimpose it on the Bible.

Then again Christianity has been corrupted for longer than 1000 years so maybe this conversation is meaningless because you're just arguing over what is less corrupt.

Yeah no problem first of all the Bible should always be viewed with a critical light since it’s a collection of peoples experiences with god and relates to us how we should live.

It’s not literally god showing you something its message is already gone through the telephone game so to speak. And that’s before even getting through translations of Hebrew to English.

Now second of all it’s a personal book about yourself. The real issue is people taking teachings into their own hands and trying to play god with other people. Just leave the fgts alone and know their very existence is an unhappy one filled with suffering and that’s all up to how they live and what they get out of life.

We can just love our fellow sinners and pray they find a better way to live life and find god.
