Throwing out things you don't really need.

No hoarder but doing a lot of cleanup. Not really sure how I got a lot of the things I do, but I have a lot of stuff. Most of it is good stuff that I might need again but then again, probably won't. The real hard part is I have a lot of my grandmother's things. In her dressers and some of her things that she put there, things she liked to keep. She died almost 4 years ago. Yup, she clocked out right before clown world went into overdrive. I'm glad she didn't have to endure the Covid BS. Anyways, Kind of in a hard spot right now. Sounds simple to a lot of you, but I'm so afraid of throwing everything away and then hating myself.

Understandable. Are there a few really special items you know for sure you want to keep?

Any family members that might want some of the rest?

Are these items you see on a day to day basis and want to keep them around or are they out of sight and you feel better knowing they're in the house?

As far as the things you "might need", I use the rule of of I needed it I would have needed it before now. Anything I've used in the not too distant past gets kept.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

I made the misteak of throwing out a bunch of things I thought I didn't need instead of just tidying and organizing everything. Don't make the same misteak I did, opee.

I’ve owned quite a few homes & it seems every house I’ll ask the wife, “where is that..?’
And she always says, you threw it out long ago. I end up always regretting the stuff I trash, if it’s junk, it’s junk, but hold onto stuff you like, things built these days are extremely cheap.

I went through my closet and dresser to get rid of clothes I never wear. Ended up with a laundry basket full, its hard to part with stuff you bought and barely ever wore but I feel alot better having the space.

Also organized all my shirts by color so they're easy to find. feelsgoodmane
