Most of the chit I read online is guys just struggling to stay alive, suffering from depression, loneliness, addictions, w/e.

Like I have my low points too but overall think life is beautiful and still worth experiencing

Most guys I see irl seem relatively put together, but guess you never really know what ppl are going though

You boyos doing ok?

As a fat guy who doesn't take care of himself, I was more depressed when fit and normal.

I'm doing well OP I hope you are too. Everybody has their highs and lows it's a part of life, but I blame social media.

Most people aren't going to say how they really feel or if they're struggling on Tik Tok. I mean 80% of those vids are staged where they find some random girl to kiss.

It's crazy though these days if you're not a celebrity or athlete, and you come out and say you say you have some mental stress etc everyone will think you're a weirdo, and immediately unsubscribe from you or unfollow you, BUT if you're a celebrity or athlete like I said.

"Omg it's so brave of him/her to come out and talk about their demons, and struggles." So yeah this is where we are at society. Better act like you're normal or else eww get away from me.

I think Donnie Darko presented it best at the time, and it aged very well.

Not like it matters, but my brain is so burnt out from booze I can’t really feel anything anymore except malaise, anxiety, and despair. Occasional small instances of happiness for small things, which is nice to experience.

But when I was a kid I had such a vivid imagination, I was manic with energy and so exuberant for life, I was obsessed with learning, I loved to play, I was struck with wonder and awe, I wanted to live and get everything out of life, experience it all. There was real magic in the world, something deep within me that must have come from my ancestors, something I didn’t deserve, something like a fire inside, I felt passion and raw emotion, high highs and low lows, I cried so hard and laughed so hard. My brain spat out ideas that came from nowhere, I believed I could accomplish anything, I was proud of myself, I was proud of what I could become, there was a wellspring of life and vigor within me like a lightning rod absorbing thunder from the sky, like I was always holding a live wire.

.

.

Now I am a walking corpse, a half-ghost, a flickering candle where there was once a bonfire, a shadow of a soul, not a real soul, an absence, a simulacrum, an artifact of what was once real.

I can’t even believe I’m the same person I used to be…can it be real? How can it be?

Depression is cause by overconsumption of music. I'm ded FKN SRS. Westoid ****gets always get offended when I bring this up.

The one thing we do often/daily that is entirely accepted by society as normal is the act of mass consuming music.

Music is a damn drug, but nobody has the balls to categorize it as such. It acts exactly the same way as a powerful drug would. It alters our moods, it fukks with our brain chemistry. It emotionally manipulates us to the to the point of exhaustion. Music sends signal to our brain to release all types of feel good chemicals.

Music is the most socially accepted form of dopamine abuse. This is a fact.

Cut out music from your life and see how emotionally stable you become. Watch as random mood swings completely disappear. All of a sudden, you don't get depressed over stupid chit anymore.

Imagine having a fkn spotify list with hundreds of songs, plugged directly into your ears for hours at a time, getting dopamined the fukk out. Hours and hours at a time, day in , day out. Could NEVER be me.

Having that kind of access to emotionally manipulative drug/music is completely unnatural for 99% of human history.

I went deeply into this topic in the past. Would gladly get into it again to save you pheggets from depression.

People are really struggling mentally. Not everyone of course, but man...the amount of bros checking out of life and turning towards weed, drugs, alcohol and escapism is at an all time high from what I see. One of my buddies who I thought was doing great sort of vented how everyday is the same for him since he is wfh and he never leaves the house. Has a wife and kids and is very happy with that, but you can see he's sort of having some depressive thoughts about what work is and society. Most of my other buddies have gone full escapism into fantasy football and alcohol. A lot of people are down about housing, property taxes, inflation and just the general BS going on in the economy.

The internet obviously is the easy emotional outlet for society at this point. So it does seem way worse on here, and although people are struggling and having a rough go, myself and a lot of people still do enjoy life and see the good in it.

The few people I talk to the most always point out insanity, joke about how fukked up things are, and complain about things, but always end up laughing it off and being very positive/optimistic.

Idk just kind of a weird time tbh. I always joke and say that I feel like since the beginning of the year I've been in purgatory and I'm just waiting for chit to go down.

Do you deny any of what I said in that post?

Do you think having music directly plugged into your ears, for hours at a time, where your brain is be masturbated by the music to release dopamine constantly, day in, day out, for years at a time, can possibly be fkn healthy for your brain chemical balance?

Why do you think depression is such a distinctly first world problem? Overconsumption and oversocialized. Chief among this is the overconsumption of music.

Do you understand that, in ancient time, men only got to hear music in VERY specific time and scenario? He only heard music when going to war. He only heard music at cultural festivals. He only heard (live) music at the bar/inn/tavern/etc.,.

Having music so readily available for mass consumption is a very modern thing.

Sitting in your fkn room and listening to depressing music, wallowing in your own misery, for hours on end, is completely unfknnatural.
