What's a better weapon, a knife or a bat?

Lets say you were in a situation where you had to fight for your life, like a self defense situation, or you are in some kind of war zone, but you don't have a gun. Instead you can choose either a knife or a bat. Which would you choose? Explain.

Knife.

Block the bat attack (not that hard), then cut the guy.

Fight is over.

Bat has better reach and most cuts/slashes are easily survivable. One bash to any part of your body with a bat will hurt/startle the f out of you then repeated blows to the dome.

It’s over. Bat wins.

Knife, EZily.

I have seen plenty of LiveLeak videos where a guy who shows up with a bat and gets disarmed. Never seen a dude with a knife get disarmed, without doing some major damage first.

With a bat, you have to plant yourself still and wind up, telegraphing your shot from a mile out. And there's a very small distance where a bat is actually effective... anyone outside it's reach is good, but anyone a foot inside its reach and up in your chit isn't in danger either.

The follow-through makes bats take forever to swing a second time, so you get one very slow power shot with one narrow zone to hit. If a guy is on the ground or not moving, he's eating that shot and getting totally fukked up. But if a guy is up and moving, it's hard to connect with him.

Knives are a lot bigger problem. You can move freely with them, you can drop strikes even faster than a decent jab, and even quick hits are potentially fatal. There's really no way you can get within arm's reach of a knife brah and not get cut. All you can do is stay away from him.

depends on range, problem with bat is you basically have one chance and if you miss or it doesnt do as much damage as you hoped you are fuked when they close the distance with a knife

Idk about that part. I've heard you have a better chance of surviving a gun shot wound than a knife attack. If it hits any major artery or organ it's over. But guess the same could be true with a bullet so who knows.... people who are trying to kill you with a knife probably aim for the neck so may have some truth to it.

I think you'd be screwed with either in a war zone. It's the literal definition of bringing a knife to a gun fight lol.

In that case, I'd take the knife. I'd be trying to survive and it's multi purpose. You could hide out in the woods or something and use it to build shelter or cut wood.

Might as well ask if a wrench is a better tool than a screwdriver.

Bat is "useless" at "too close" distances.

Cut the neck, guys is dead.

Plus, the time it takes for the guy to attack you with a bat, you would be stabbed in the neck.

edit: Just realized I got the question wrong. Is not a "bat vs knife - which one you wanna be?" question. But my answer is the same, the knife.

i agree with this, i seen a lot of the bat fights and many times the guy looses the bat, hell even the video i just watched of an actual KO with a bat against an unarmed guy, it wasnt even the first swing that got him and he got lucky to get a second one if the guy had a knife he would have been fuked.

I would vote pipe wrench. I have carried pipe wrenches as a weapon at work before when dealing with psychos.
