What's the psychology behind "oneitis"?

Humans have a biological drive to reproduce, like all living things. So why do so many guys have this concept of a "oneitis"? I myself suffered a very bad case of oneitis a few years ago, and still sometimes think about her occasionally

serious answer, almost certainly biologically based in men. the fact that it occurs so often in literature and in reality suggest its something about how men process love/bonding.

its been said that even King Leo Dicaprio, dates so many young women because his initial first love dumped him at a young age and he is wants to recreate/relive it. you can't blame him, better than falling in love with an old women and dating a string of them.

It falls in line with the 80/20 rule. 80 percent of men have zero chance with an attractive woman so they devote all their time and energy into their "oneitis".

Even Chads will struggle a bit at a younger age, when most women are dating older guys more physically developed and financially secure.

"Putting women on a pedestal" has everything to do with most men operating from a position of sexual scarcity.

It almost always occurs when the person receiving the affection has a higher market value than the other person and has a compatible personality profile that would work in a relationship.

Because they are out of reach they never get enough so they get sick of them. They also get strung a long a lot. Often used as a back up.
