what happened to the misc (srs)
So I've been away for a few years.
Seems this place has died down a lot, I remember my first account was from 2010 in the golden era where Zyzz, Germanic, h4te etc were all posting. The misc around that era was FAST, you'd F5 and there'd be a heap of new threads during peak times.
What has happened over the past few years that has made it so much slower? When I look around now it seems like the main accounts are from that same era, there are barely any new posters being attracted to the Misc it seems?

The rise of larger, conglomerate social media led to the fall of board forums. Why go to your bb forum, your gaming forum, your town forum, etc. when you can just find them all in one place at reddit/********/Instagram?
Also feel the nichifcation of things probably plays a part - a general miscellaneous section likely has less broad appeal these days.

however forums like /fit/ have remained fairly steady in terms of post counts over the years.

Got me thinking though. I dunno. I guess /fit/ has the fully anonymity angle, and 4chan is certainly a much bigger brand than bb.com these days. Could say that overzealous mods and technical failures (search issues, old style embedding, other random crap) have hurt misc, but 4chsn doesn't have that stuff, right (I actually don't really know how to browse 4chan well)?
Personal attachment to the misc aside, I do really like the forum experience. I think it's a lot more social.

The thing is even many would say 4chan as a forum has gone downhill, I think over the past 2 years or so they implemented captcha puzzles for posting which probably hurt them a lot in terms of post counts. They also all generally hate overzealous mods but that seems to be common on every forum.
But yeah you're right, I mean the only forums I really know are reddit (never use it), 4chan, and the Misc. But I would also say that reddit has either gained popularity or at least stayed the same, while it seems like the Misc has dropped in popularity a tonne.

It all changed in 2012
eod8989 was right
In September 2015, founder and CEO Ryan Deluca suddenly announced he would be stepping down from his position as CEO

I'd put reddit in the category of new blood that would replace misc, not something that's going downhill any time soon (assuming no terrible moves from management).
r/moreplatesmoredates has a very misc-like feel, albeit with some differences ofc (has the young people of the 2020s rather than 2010, more celltech talk, gayer).

Do I need to quote The Talking Heads.
"Same as it ever was" "same as it ever was" "same as it ever was"
"Same as it ever was" "same as it ever was" "same as it ever was"
"it takes a wise man to know when he is in error and a noble man to admit to it"

That have since became irrelevant
The fact is tho that the bb forums are more aesthetically pleasing. Easier to interact w people and share a broad range of ideas. Half the Reddit threads you go on have like? 15 million comments and you just get pushed down and pushed down
No one replies
Plus the bodybuilding culture is or could be dope
Like the melting pot of the global economic recovery
Following the Sandusky apocalypse de economy
It’s possible, that’s how it should go down. Meshed with fitness and bodybuilding stuff
The popularity will be crazy and the amount of female support? Is and will be insane
Bodybuilding could be saying
All I know is I wrote every single word of everything I ever murdered
Time to separate the sheep from goats (Yeah)
And I got no faith in your writers, I don't believe in ghosts
When rap needed it most, I was that wing and a prayer (Huh)
A beacon of hope, put a B-I-R-D in the air
Somewhere some kid is bumpin' this while he lip-syncs in the mirror
That's who I'm doin' it for, the rest I don't really even care
But you would think I'm carryin' a Oxford dictionary in my pocket
How I'm buryin' these artists
On a scale of 'turnt' you're 'minus'
Mine says 'very', yours says 'hardly'
And what's scary is you prob'ly can compare me to your car 'cause I'm just barely gettin' started

Everyone grew old and jaded, because the world is sick. We used to be young, carefree and happy.
I was in the era of badboy2, WSSicks, h4te, timothy1, and that guy who used to write stories about how he was so jacked his abs could stop bullets, and he had a midget follower too, reps to anyone who can remember.
