Had this thought the other day when I remember back in the day there was forums for car enthusiasts, video games, etc
Most if not all of those sites are no longer up since you can easily find "Groups" on ******** or things like Discord and whatnot, which is cool and all but there was something special about participating on a forum
With all that being said, somehow the misc remains up and running and you can still very well find some really good threads from the golden misc days

owners of the BB missed a gigantic opportunity but decided to take this site / store a different direction

Used to spend so much time on this one forum based dragonball Z style text RPG website,

people would post forum threads about how their character is training, and then the leader of the website would review it and approve their training and give their bio status on the website a new power level.

and people would create drama between characters and fight eachother, which would cause us all to go watch or contribute to it in an AIM chatroom.

we'd use "/a" as an action

/a jumps into the air
/a floats high above the ground
/a charges up, increasing level to 3000
/a charges an orb, red lights flash through the sky as it grows

then the other guy would try to interupt their flow

/a zips behind you as you're charging the orb
/a spins, round house kicks the side of your head

I think the rule was the more descriptive you could be, the better chance you were given the permission by the website leader to be victorious in the exchange. Kept people from being like...

/a jumps
/a kicks
/a dodges

etc.

Forums have been mostly dead since the early 2010's. Their hey day was over by the late-2000's once facecuck started coming into the mix.

The misc is dead too, for that matter. The only reason there's any traffic here at all anymore is because it was so high traffic 15 years ago.

My dream is for misc to be the last forum standing on the internet. Like truly the last standing. It's why I keep miscing to help keep it alive so it can be the one.

Forums have lost interest because the platform is someone makes a post and others contribute to the topic. Now people want social media where everyone is just an OP and it's all about OP. A forum it's about the idea.

yeah - bb.com is dying cause of instagram I think. But that kinda makes sense. And overall forums are down compared to their peak but they are in no way dying
