Update on hip dislocation
OP is 53
Dislocated it Friday afternoon in shower, one and a half years after hip revision surgery (fixing the hip replacement).
EMS took me to Emergency Room and the put it back in, went home.
Called ortho on Monday. Saw doctor on Tuesday morning.
Doc checked things out, said x-rays look good. Thinks it was a freak accident since it happed so long after the operation and I wasn’t doing anything I wasn’t supposed to do.
Wife snitched and told him I was squatting and deadlifting a couple hours before the dislocation. Doc said squatting and deadlifting is fine if it doesn’t cause pain (it didn’t)
Put me on “hip restrictions” don’t move certain ways and chill, no working out, just short walks, don’t need crutches, until I see him again in a month. Act as if I just had the operation.
He said the ER doc had a tough time getting it back in which is a good thing. Said he almost got called in because if they couldn’t get it in, they’d have to operate, and he was already at happy hour.
Doc said I won’t need an operation unless it pops back out a bunch more in a short time period.
I asked about “Constrained component”, he said that’s no good, there is newer and better. Called “Duel-Action” or something like that. Honestly I forgot the exact name, but that’s close to what he said.

It was actually good she dimed me. Doc got her off my back about the squats and deadlifts. She was certain that’s what caused the dislocation.
His physician assistant would tell me to go light, do more leg curls and extensions. Glad the Doc squashed that.
