Being "fat" is now a qualification for a PhD program

Whenever some leftist troll claims that academia is "kicking Conservative ass" and is somehow proving Conservatives wrong with science, and *that's* why academia is filled with liberals, remember that this is the qualification for a PhD program at a top university.
In the 2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities rankings, the University ranked 201–300 in the world, and 9–12 in Canada.[101]
Being a fat-ass. That's it. That will get you in the door for your PhD to own the conservatives.

You should mention that you need at least a Masters to enter a PhD in the US, unless there's an direct entry after the Honours component of your bachelors at some universities that I'm unaware of.

No, OP, there are a wealth of reasons why academia is dominated by liberals. That is because more education makes you a more progressive thinker exposed to a wealth of cultures and perspectives and hence, you will naturally lean more liberal.

Plus, you appreciate how much complexity there is in the world and neat bifurcations and heirarchies don't capture everything, especially not the nature of personhood.

We just don't live in the reality envisioned by conservatives. Academia has been mogging this regular-ass Platonism that Christian conservatism relies upon for decades now.

Wrong. The more liberal you are as a white person, the more likely you are able to separate yourself from minorities and/or live like a libertarian in your own life. Kids in private schools, white neighborhood, pay lowest taxes possible, have home protection, etc, etc

Did you inquire?Let us know what the deal with being fat, disabled, and outdoorsy is all about. Seems like a recipe for disaster.

The funded opportunity is probably another way to publicize a paid assistantship. Assuming Queen's University is legit, entry to the program would require jumping through the usual hoops.

Also, "academia" fits in the bell curve like everything else. On the edges there is some weird pointless chit going on. The bulk of it is just kids taking higher level math and language classes while going to business school or STEM.

The why are they bitching about their college loans if they're so productive? Why are they still broke, and living with mommy till they're 30 and older if they're so productive?

Post some data about who "they" are and how many of them are a burden on society compared to the opposite end of the education spectrum.

“27. We argue that a very important and influential segment of the modern left is oversocialized and that their oversocialization is of great importance in determining the direction of modern leftism. Leftists of the oversocialized type tend to be intellectuals or members of the upper-middle class. Notice that university intellectuals [3] constitute the most highly socialized segment of our society and also the most leftwing segment.

28. The leftist of the oversocialized type tries to get off his psychological leash and assert his autonomy by rebelling. But usually he is not strong enough to rebel against the most basic values of society. Generally speaking, the goals of today's leftists are NOT in conflict with the accepted morality. On the contrary, the left takes an accepted moral principle, adopts it as its own, and then accuses mainstream society of violating that principle. Examples: racial equality, equality of the sexes, helping poor people, peace as opposed to war, nonviolence generally, freedom of expression, kindness to animals. More fundamentally, the duty of the individual to serve society and the duty of society to take care of the individual. All these have been deeply rooted values of our society (or at least of its middle and upper classes [4] for a long time. These values are explicitly or implicitly expressed or presupposed in most of the material presented to us by the mainstream communications media and the educational system. Leftists, especially those of the oversocialized type, usually do not rebel against these principles but justify their hostility to society by claiming (with some degree of truth) that society is not living up to these principles.“

There is absolutely zero reason for education itself to make someone lean to the left. The structure of socialization and overthinking / introspection / combined with self defeating and self hate philosophies (white privilege, American privilege, academic privilege, male privilge, cis privilege) and the feelings of inferiority which replaces what should be a point of pride in accomplishment.

Both my step dad and mom were professors for decades before moving on. It’s readily apparent why oversocialization ruined American academics as the critical theory’s of the Frankfurt school infected the various institutions. It’s also easy to watch the same phenomenon spread amongst the masses when oversocialization via social media began to take place.

Why can't you just admit that what was posted in the OPies post is proof of how pathetic liberals are ? It's not that hard and the fact that you always try to deflect from reality shows how dumb you really are

Most phd programs are hyper focused on a single field. And there is a strict hierarchy and need to toe the line if you want to advance at your institution, if you want funding, if you want to get published in the best journals, etc.

Experts with PHD'S are the same individuals that were telling people to wear a mask outside, or even at home with their families, to wear one while taking a shower at the gym, that lockdowns were necessary and that the vaccines would stop the spread of the virus.....

Liberals are the reason why education has been dumbed down over decades, but it’s not completely their fault. When the government started giving universities money, it influenced them to make bad decisions to keep the money flowing. Facilities got bigger, because subsidies are based on facilities, instead of bettering education. For example, football stadiums and programs got huge as a result too. 98% of universities actually lose money on their football programs and stadiums, but they fudge the books to make it break even (Discovered by several economists, including Thomas Sowell).

Subsidies and money from the government allowed universities to offer studies that have no positive impact on the world or economy, like gender studies.

It also caused bad science, because Unis get money for the quantity of studies they do, not the quality.

In other words, we moved from meritocracy to profit, which is ironic, because liberals complain that capitalism is all about the profits, but before government intervention, profits were in line with the success of students and their success in the economy. Now Unis focus on the success of government. Their interests changed from the consumer to themselves, which, to the liberal seems counter intuitive, but they lack the knowledge of how economies and societies work.

Capitalism aligns the self interest of the business and self interests of the consumer. Socialism aligns self interest of the business with the self interest only itself and whatever the government will give them at the cost of the taxpayer. Socialism screws the consumers and tax payers. (Zero sum game).

If you want to see a simultaneous improvement of tuition, education, the ability to pay off loans, and success of the students after they graduate, get government out of the business of education. This starves the Unis when they make bad decisions.

To get more info about the intelligentsia and the liberal mindset, I recommend the book The Anointed by Thomas Sowell. As Bohdy graciously displays here, Sowell explains how these groups seem to think they have some cosmic knowledge, like they were blessed with knowing something the rest of the people don’t understand. That their intelligence gives them some kind of godly power of knowledge. If we look at extremist regimes, you see the same thing. It’s arrogance and narcissism that leads them to believe they should be in control of a people.

Read this, then read Bohdy’s reply

“In his, 1995 book The Vision of the Anointed, Thomas Sowell observed that an elite cadre of Americans, without having been appointed by anyone, declared their superior morality and their critical role in correcting society’s wrongs.”

Liberals like Bodhy will never answer this question. If IQ matters(saying libs are smarter), then are you a race realist, and do you agree libertarians are smarter?

It’s def not IQ, because IQ doesn’t dictate values and logic. If we take IQ in to account, we see a lot of high IQ individuals who believe in communism, socialism, anti capitalism, genocide, and racism (anti racism). Yet, there are large numbers of lower IQ individuals that understand these issues better than those in the high IQ demographics. If those who were high IQ used logic, they could look at individuals and see that their logic doesn’t add up.

Lastly, it’s possible to have a degree and high IQ and not use logic and good values at all. For example, the first professional group to join the nazis were doctors. THe liberal would have you believe they would have been the last to join, based on their conclusions. The intelligentsia as a whole joined before religious groups, who, according to the leftist, is low IQ and stupid.

Being a fat-ass. That's it. That will get you in the door for your PhD to own the conservatives.
If this occurred in the US, the number of PHDs would skyrocket in Republican states (Typically the most obese states).
