75,000 healthcare workers just went on strike

I'm kind of surprised no one in RP knows about it. Bigger than the UAW strike.

Oh wait, I'm not surprised. Soap operas about specific politicians is the current dynamic. They want similar raises as the UAW, 25-40%. Biden and Federal Reserve inflation have come home to roost boyos.

"long and variable lags"

"Higher for longer"

Lol-

I've been economic optimist for a while - it's over now - 2024 gonna be a tough year, 2025 gonna be a train wreck.

I've learned it's a guessing game trying to time exactly when economic schit shows will happen, but in general I don't think 2024 looks good. 2025 no idea, other than it won't be great. There is general malaise, with all growth coming from debt, both government and personal debt. We've been in an "everything bubble" for a while now, and nobody knows how/when it deflates since fundamentals are at odds with other conditions.

If this wasn't the peak of our largest generation ever retiring, leaving behind lots of open jobs I do believe we'd be in a second great depression. But with them leaving so much open it throws a monkey wrench into all the fundamentals and economic models. And they aren't frugal in their retirement as previous generations. I was at Costco around 3-4pm the other day and as I was in a long line leaving I took notice of the cars coming in. A significant majority were Boomers in luxury SUVs. I then did a quick trip to Walgreens. Most of the vehicles were Land Rovers, Benz, etc and none of them were young. Boomers are retired/retiring and spending. Heck they're the biggest group of homebuyers now. Mind blown.
