Beta magic deck was just on pawn stars. I'm about to be sick
Many years ago good friend was heavy into magic. He tried to teach me how to play and offered to give me some cards.. I remember one of the ones he offered me was a black lotus . I belive it is. . This was many man many years ago.
Supposedly this is worth tons of money now.
Why does hindsight always come with a price? Ugh

I don't know a lot about collectables cards but I do know that it's usually the first edition cards that bring the high prices. Unless your friend was giving you first edition cards they probably weren't worth much. And especially since they were played with. They have to be mint condition on top of being first edition to bring the highest prices.

My brother's best friend when we were kids was the worlds best Magic the Gathering player at one point. He was an only child and his father was extremely wealthy. He probably just bought the best possible deck there was and I remember he won $50,000 in a world tournament for 1st place and that's when he won the title as the best Magic player in the world. A few years later he got into online poker and his parents let him use the $50,000 he won playing magic to gamble playing Texas holdem online even though he was only 16 or 17 at the time. He ended up coming in 6th or 7th in the World Series of Online Poker Main Event and during the final table he was typing in chat that he was only 16 or 17 and a few beers deep. It got a lot of coverage at the time and almost caused him problems but they still ended up paying his mothers account the money. He would go on to I think lose the $70k that he won in that tournament and got his mother to spot him another $50k to continue playing.
Then, at the age of 18, he was legally allowed to play in the Bahamas so he went to play in a $10,000 buy in tourament and he won it. He took home over $800,000. He then started playing in the highest stakes of online cash games and he worked his bankroll up to over $1,000,000 at 18 years old. He got a lot of coverage and Philadelphia Magazine did a spread on him where the cover of the magazine was him in a Baby Blue Velour Sean John Sweat Suit with his brand new 6-Series BMW I the background with Spinners. The cover said "Worlds Best Poker player". It did not take long before he lost that $1,000,000 playing and gamble like a true degenerate. He did not value money like the rest of us. He was able to gamble and play like a maniac which was a double edged sword because it made him rich but also caused his downfall. He no longer gambles or plays cards but instead started a business and has become very successful in that endeavor with the help and support of his rich father.
Guy was an absolute character. A complete tool but who wouldn't be at that age if they won $1,000,000 playing poker online and people calling him the best poker player in the world.
