How does the average person survive in this economy? SRS

Grocery prices thru the roof. Renting and housing prices? Don't get me started.

I make around 300k per year (not bragging, but just a perspective). I live in Boston. I live almost paycheck to paycheck. How do kids have money for family, house, eating out?

How the **** do they even survive? It's almost ****ing impossible.

They want to kill us (especially the minorities). I literally just starve myself…skip meals…intermittent fasting lol. I already lost 50 lbs since last year. I feel healthier tho ngl.

my grandparents came from farming families...every meal was something centered around taters, sweet taters, yams, beans, squash, okra, cornbread, cabbage, greens, etc -- staple foods you can eat everyday and some you can grow in your backyard. my grandmaw could make a meal on monday and feed everyone on it until wednesday

after overtime and holiday pay and I stuff I make $70K per year and live in a small town north of Houston. rent for a 1BR is $1225 with a dishwasher and I bought my own washer and dryer and have a 1 car garage. 1 floor ground unit with nobody above me.

for $2.50 at dollar tree you can get about 2500 calories with a bag of chips and a 2 liter of soda. people with not much money can pretty easily get the 3k+ calories needed to be fat

They live paycheck to paycheck without any hopes of ever buying a home or earning enough to support children.

But how the fuk are you struggling on $300k? Even in Boston you should be comfortable. You’re fuking up brah. Time to cut expenses or move to a lower COL area. I earn $50k and I’m making it with a little bit to spare.

Let's assume OP isn't lying about making $300K

If that's the case then obviously you have skillsets that makes you worthy of that salary, and if that's the case you should be able to negotiate a WFH position or, at most, coming into the office 2 days per week.

Then you should relocate out of Boston into a lower COL area and stack your money.

It's brutal by me. My lease ends first week of december. I am moving back in with my parents. My landlord wants to raise rent, and the rent by me now is $1,700 average...and I'm not in a big city. I'm closer to small town rural IL.

Thankfully I have no debt, no car payment, or things like that so I can deal with the groceries and rent plus gas and other stuff. If I had a typical car payment of 2023 or student loans still I wouldn't be able to save a penny.

Food by me is climbing to absurd rates. Meat is almost to a point where I am just going to eat only grass fed ground beef and chuck roasts on sale. Nothing else. Quality chicken isn't even worth it.

Making 300k in Boston would net you around $16k per month

if you are living paycheck to paycheck with that amount, that would make you utterly stupid. Assuming you are single, you could probably spend $4-6k per month on a decent lifestyle and invest $10K every month.

Yeah I really dont get it either OP.

I make 175K GBP from my day job, and then another 120K GBP from my side hustle. Granted I pay about 45% tax, I still dont really have that much left over after a few holidays and general expenses. Rent is 3.5K GBP a month in central London.

****ed if I know how the average person gets by, its truly pissening how expensive things are.

I work in Finance and have a oxbridge degree so I feel like I am kind of exceptional but at the same time I feel like im not doing terribly well....

I dont have kids or any dependents and its still tight...
