Did you read a lot while you were there?
Were you allowed to keep your phone or did they only allow calling at certain times?

OP, a lot of people today seek out stimulation from a wide variety of sources. This could be caffeine, alcohol, drugs, gaming, porn, etc.
All of these quick "fixes" artificially re-program our bodies to stop relaxing and put us in a state of constant "stimulation seeking". That's typically why detox is good, because it allows us to separate ourselves from our stimulations and allow our dopamine regulation to reset.
The key at this point, is finding ways to learn how to stay relaxed. Whether it's showers, baths, running, meditation, constantly pretending we're a little drowsy, literally anything to keep our bodies in a "sedated state".
The truth is, not a lot of people these days understand how relaxed and boring life really is. Society constantly offers us stimulations or quick fixes for excitement. We have to learn to rebel against these things and the things that our bodies have been accustomed to desiring for stimulation. Part of this may be the reason why so many suffer from anxiety. They may no longer recognize what a relaxed state is, and thus, are constantly in an internal frenzy to seek stimulation.
With that said, stimulation seeking can be a form of avoidance and ignoring emotional trauma. When we start to dial our stimulation seeking back, all of the feelings we've put off feelings will find themselves coming back into our lives so that we can feel them, process them, and move on. While this happens, our bodies will attempt to seek out things like alcohol, drugs, etc because it's been a programmed response in the past to do that. By resisting these urges, and by accepting we must experience our feelings, it allows us to make progress towards moving away from substance abuse.
I hope some of that makes sense. By understanding this, it can help develop the self awareness to recognize triggers and how to deal with them.
