Guy living one room down from me is insane and seemingly getting worse.

He has not left the house in at least 4 months, maybe much longer. He takes showers over an hour long in a shared washroom, leaves the bathroom and kitchen floors covered in water and mud and hair, does his dishes in a shared kitchen a few feet from our bedrooms for 30 minutes or more at 3:00 AM.

And just last night he went berserk, screaming like a maniac for at least 2 minutes straight. He was in his room but the screaming was directed at me. It started right after I opened my door to go to the bathroom.

He’s done this before when I passed him in the kitchen. I thought he was screaming in his phone, but looked and he didn’t have a phone.

I thought “OK, this guy is nuts and he’s screaming to himself, so I’ll just ignore it”. But that seems to have emboldened him.

It’s very aggressive and threatening screaming in some foreign language. Maybe Vietnamese.

I’ve contacted the landlord, who lives upstairs. And I’ll be carrying protection on me at all times now. But I won’t let the guy get away with trying to intimidate me where I live.

Any suggestions.

It’s only acceptable to have roommates if you live in one of the most expensive cities in the world and your crib better be sexy. If you live in a small town in a chitty trap house it’s over 4u

As for OP, definitely move. Don't want crazy roommates or inconsiderate ass-holes. Who does dishes at 3am? That's loony. I've had really inconsiderate roommates before, like ones that leave washing in the machine for days, or hog the kitchen for two hours, but never a complete loon.

From what I've read, that is something many families have difficulty finding answers to, dealing with a mentally ill family member. It can break families apart. I have a friend with a daughters that suffers from serious mental issues. Medical treatments didn't help much. Basically the daughter didn't have empathy for others feelings. As an example she had no problems with going into her sisters or parents rooms at 3:00 in the morning to yell about something. Eventually she moved out for college, where she did very well, so long as she wasn't dating a guy. When she dated her grades fell apart. There is peace i n the house now since finding a job, and not wanting to be around family members.

If you are in the US you can always call the police to do a "wellness check" on him when he starts screaming like a maniac...if you are lucky and he is still screaming like a maniac when they get there they can get him 1013'd and haul him away to an Emergency Room and hopefully he goes to a psych facility afterward.

That’s nothing, man. My roommate is the worst roomate in the history of roommates.

1-He hides in the cupboard under the sink and bursts through the doors and screams. I literally fell on my arse when he did that.

2- He will wait behind corners in the apartment and jump out and scare me with a mask on.

3- He takes chits in my toilet, doesn't flush, but instead puts his space heater in the small bathroom and cranks it up to roast his chit.

4- If he hears me having sex with my GF, he will bang on my door and scream "Fukin Nice Bro! Woo!"

I've confronted him about this calmly, aggressively, but he won't stop. I'm debating breaking the lease but my contract is up in August. Not sure what to do.

Id call the cops. My apartment complex had some Vietnamese guy get ****ed up on drugs and walk around the property screaming at 2 AM. He was hauled away a couple times before property management decided to finally evict him. They couldn't evict him until cops were called a certain amount of times, I believe
