Just that old GTAs had more love put into them. GTA5 is like if Ubisoft decided to finally release a great game.

True but gameplay was great though

felt like a huge step down from gta iv when it came to the physics and npc interactions. I remember being super disappointed that most npcs would die from getting punched.

To be honest the Vice City characters were the only ones I ever liked. I thought the plot was pretty fun too.
Claude didn't ****ing speak, San Andreas characters were mostly very cringey, and Niko was a bit of a pushover.

Also I don't really think many people appreciate the fighting mechanics jump form Vice City to IV.

Lets hope the rumours about the next GTA being "less offensive" aren't true.

agreed, the lack of enterable buildings, shyt driving mechanics and overall unmemorable protagonists really left me feeling letdown. Another key problem was that while the map was big, it wasn't filled with anything but mountains so the driving was so boring when there was nothing but trees around. Compared to IV or SA where the maps were smaller but felt so much more alive. The story was also way too short for 3 characters. For 1 it woulda been a good length, but we didn't spend enough time with any of them to really experience the story through there eyes. Would of much rather an IV approach, focus on 1 in the main game, then release DLCs for the others.

I liked the game and I think overall it's really good but I think everyone is just bitter and hates it now bc it's been 10 years since the last gta.

It's certainly a shell of its former self now, but when it first launched, multiplayer was a blast. Before it became a bloated suck hole of wallets it was just classic gta ****ery and fun. The online heists were fun af. Making enough to get the mansion and the cars, it was genuinely a good time.

The campaign I liked. Sure others were better but I thought this one was good and the multiple ways to do heists was pretty cool. Again, 10 years ago.

Not adding any single player dlc was really the worst part about it. Everyone would have given their left nut for a Lamar based dlc story campaign

Nah, It was the first GTA where I didn't bother to replay story mode - the progression just sucked and I was like 20 back then, so even as a dumb idiot I still found the story to be shyt.



Like HockeyBacon18 said, the story was too short for you to grow attached towards any of the charachters. Franklin basically gets a house out of nowhere at the start and is done.

Trevor and Michael are pretty much ended up at the same place and the end was like kill some random NPC you met once early in the game as Franklin, kill some other dude you met twice at midway storymode and that main-antagonist is some guy that came out of nowhere in the end. SRS there was no serious villain.

All you do through the story is do some random heists for no reason basically. And the map as mentioned before is just full of filler crap.

The game came out 10 years ago and is still one of the best selling games today. Think about that

Vice City is peak GTA crew.

4 and 5 are completely uncomparable so maybe you'll like 5

VC and 4 are my 2 GOATs though

As said, I don't think GTA5 is bad at all; it is just not-well written by GTA standards. The reason it still sells is because:

1. It is GTA, it already had the reputation
2. Its competitors are absolute dogshyt
3. Kids love online

GTA's reputation would not have been what it is if GTA5 was the first game to start the wave IMO 3,VC and SA had so much detail and what made gamers love them - the word of mouth spread towards casual thus making the franchise popular.

5 is still full of detail for a game, but as I said it is if Ubisoft decided to create a great game - Just graphically polished but kind of lacks substance like story, progression, chachters and the map is just full of filler crap.

Loved GTA 4. Played maybe 3 hours of GTA 5 just driving around, got bored and never played again

I know one thing FOR SURE. GTA6 will pretty much 100% be centered around nhigga culture. If you’ve ever turned on voice for gta online you will know what I’m talking about.

Twas a good game but it was missing the none PC comedy of the GTA SA and GTA VC era.

RDR2 was one of the best games I ever played though as a single player game so gives me hope for GTA 6.

Also I didn't really enjoy GTA IV as much as I should have as I kept comparing it to GTA SA at the time. (Jetpacks, modding cars, California setting, fighter jets, 3+ diff big city's/small towns etc, great music/DJ's)

Replayed it recently and tis a great game.

Also I loved playing the biker dude in GTA 4 DLC and it pissed me off killing him in GTA 5.
