Fargo Season 5

Fargo just started back up. Watched the first episode and it was definitely a mixed bag. Some pretty tense scenes but also...IDK, it's almost fully lost it's mojo. Seasons 1 and 2 were 10/10, Season 3 was a step down but still solid, Season 4 was another step down from that. And it looks like Season 5 is a step further down.
Still solid enough in parts; one scene was very No Country For Old Men. And the lead character doing the Home Alone style trap setting is an interesting angle.
But man, the characters are all just straight up woke tropes now. Every guy is either a spineless pussy, "toxic" douchebag, or straight up villain. And all the women are badass boss b!tches or matriarchs. Can call what each character is gonna be like when they first appear on screen before they utter a single line. All these Hollywood creators must be following the same template at this point.

Still worth a watch if you like the series, but based on the first episode it's the worst season so far. Biggest positive was there were some horror vibes to a few scenes. 2 episodes dropped but could only make it through one for now.

Season 2 was still amazing, loved it

Season 3 was pretty good

I am excited for it's return. I will probably skip s4 and start on s5 this weekend

This. Sometimes they make stories and dialogue too complicated and I lose interest.

I kinda wish they would do a season with the original characters from the movie.

Season 4 sucked ass.

But I'll give the new one a chance..

Season 1 is some of the best TV in tv history dead srs. It would have been impossible to recapture that magic for any later seasons, it was just too good, Billy Bob Thornton killed it.

Anyone who really dug Season 1 of Fargo should look up "Utopia." It's a UK series, only had 2 seasons, but it had the same sort of tone to it.

Season 4 gets a lot of chit but I didn't mind it much. It was the worst of the 4, for sure, but it was pretty interesting seeing the Irish vs Black gangs in the '50s. The two murderous bank-robber ladies were the most annoying part. The serial killer who poisoned people's pies and chit was interesting, though.

Lorne Malvo is an all-time great character, Season 1 is definitely the peak. But Season 2 was neck and neck with it, the whole gang warfare in the 70s was intense as fuark. Season 3 was underrated at the time...not nearly as crazy, but VM Varga was a great villain.

I'm a fan of all the seasons as this is one of my fav shows.

5s off to a great start.

I wouldnt lump Hawley in with typical hollywood as he's anything but, which is why this show is so unique.

Fargo has always had strong women types. Main cop character in the film and 2 seasons, Mary Winstead in S3. Hamms character is the opposite of a weak male character.
From a storytelling aspect, without spoilers... the husband needs to be the the clueless dorky type for the wife thing to work.

This show is still better than 99.9% of what's out there.

I watched first ep yesterday. I thought it was decent. Wtf was with the cop just standing in the open at the gas pump?

Watched S1, 2, and 3. Didn't finish 4, lost interest a few episodes in.

Watched E1, so far looks promising compared to S4 which was pretty bad. The "DLR" plate and scene where the criminals are on the patio looking through the sliding door are clearly lifted from the movie.

Jon Hamm plays a pretty good hardo so should get interesting
