What if the criminals in SF figure out they can steal luggage from airport

lol

for some reason, airport baggage claim not behind security. I think they should be behind security checkpoints... it makes no sense anyone can just walk inside an airport, and go to the baggage claim conveyer belts... and just pick up someones luggage and walk out.

American airports are so behind on this... other int'l airports don't do this in EU and asia


It's only a matter of time until the criminal looters in NYC and San francisco figure this out, and start mass looting luggage after flights, and running out

I want to say in JFK and some terminals at LAX baggage claim is actually not accessible to the public. At least it used to be that way not sure after they renovated. Makes sense.

Seattle has seen a huge spike in baggage theft. It’s not a big secret that it’s not hard to just walk up and take someone’s bag.

LAX you can just walk right in.

I have always wondered why it doesn't happen more often. Seems so easy. That being said I would hazard to guess that most things people keep in their suitcase are not valuable.

I think T2 before it was renovated it was setup like T4 JFK. I remember having to walk through baggage claim to an area to get a Covid test back in 2020 for employees that wasn’t available to the general public.

Irrelevant now of course but seems like a big oversight in a country with huge theft problems. Even in places where theft isn’t a problem in other countries they don’t have the belts in a public area.

Also what is to prevent someone from adding luggage to the metal turning thing?

They would eventually take it off and put it in the back room somewhere while they tried to figure it out.

Could be anything in that luggage. I always wonder about that when i see that one lone bag spinning around with no one around.

^This. People carry on their laptops, phones and such out of habit as is. I don't think used clothing, half used bottles of cologne and tubes of toothpaste are going to get a lot of cash on the streets. Once in awhile they might score a dimebag of weed in someone's luggage, but that's the last drug thieves want for themselves.

One time at work, when I was on midnights, had to be like 12-13 years ago, some hoodrat flashed a Lazer pointer at a plane, they then sent out the CPD helicopter, and the idiot did it to the helicopter, so the helicopter called it out and we caught the guy.

The guy was laughing, treating it like a joke, till I showed him the Google article, and how he made the news, and he's being charged with a "federal" crime, and pointed at the suits who showed up to interview us and him.

Man oh man, did his eyes get big with fear.

The homeless bums in San Francisco just take free rides on the trains to the airport and and wait inside for customers who leave their bags lying around and then they snatch them and get back onto the train again

Even if it was behind security, it's not like they check the claim check anymore (I'm old enough to remember when they did), and there's nothing stopping any random Biden appointee who was also on a flight from grabbing your bag too.

when i was traveling for work all the time, i took my playstation console with me, with all the accessories, in my checked luggage. also had all my electronic accesories.. and my 2nd checked baggage was my black pelican case full of my tools for jobsites. the black pelican case alone was worth $300. then you have all my tools inside...
