What VPN do you nerds use? (Reps for suggestions)

Was thinking of buying a new VPN subscription via black friday deals. Any recommendations which one is good?

Players like NordVPN pumping unlimited money into youtube advertising makes me think it's a scam.

How about torguard? This one good, yeh?

ProtonVPN for both desktop and mobile. It's like $80 for 2 years, well worth it.

i had a 5 year private internet access sub for $75, which ran out recently. they offered me a 3 year renewal for around $80, though i'll be trying mullvad instead. they're around $55/year (they sell vouchers on amazon), and are considered one of the best if not the best, but they're bad for streaming services. ivpn is another top vpn provider.

Nord VPN. I had PIA before.
Nord Seems to let me watch my sport streams when I'm in other other countries, PIA couldn't.

Not sure if it's the best, but it does everything I need.

Also good for buying Xbox games from Turkey and Argentina.

I've found a hardware DPN, not a VPN- you can basically plug and play and select a location anywhere in the world for free

deeper network (this also allows you to mine their crypto coin) - buyer beware, I'm not fully aware of the risks and only use it sporadically when needed. I think tor browser is your best bet for non-data intensive tasks

PIA was awesome but got bought out by a really shady company a couple of years ago and most people including myself jumped ship.

I bought a lifetime subscription to Windscribe for $50 and have been sailing for years now without issue.

It's definitely nice if you can catch lifetime deals; I also purchased an Adguard Premium lifetime across multiple devices for not much at all.

If you're on mobile, you can use the VPN feature to use free VPN apps like RethinkDNS for system wide ad blocking, too.

Mostly sports for me. Know others use them for streaming movies/tv and other media.

And I'll use it on my phone if I need to jump on public wifi.

My server downloads all new 4k movies so I can watch them with Plex on any tv, phone, tablet in the house...

There are times where you might need to spoof your location to access content not available in your region.

That's pretty much it for me, just a pirate.

Just removed my htpc from my living room this past weekend, was a user of WMC and then Plex for the longest time but it has been just as long since I have used it. I just find streaming so much more convenient.

I hear you. I only do it because I don't like to wait for the newest stuff... I stream everything else. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to mgftp again.

Nearly all streaming for me has needed a VPN, unless I find some dodgy stream thats probably not legal.

Right, anything official of decent quality needs a VPN if it's in market or whatever the issue blacking out the content for you is. I have tried all these streaming sites the Internet raves about and the quality is absolute dog chit, with all sorts of issues as well. I'll stick to a VPN and ESPN, smooth like butter.

I use Nord on an old bare bones laptop that's mostly a mame box. I wouldn't use it on any of my computers that I do my banking or keep my secure pass codes on. Who knows what they are snooping.
