i've often thought this...how do we KNOW the cop did whatever he did because of racism? how do we know he wouldn't have done the same to a white person acting the same?

racism can often be this arbitrary thing that just gives people a license to stir the pot and hate other people. those that profit from racism will of course "see" it anywhere they can.

The number of people here who strongly believe that George Floyd's death was a direct result of racism would definitely be a very small minority.

I think a better discussion question would be how the situation could have been handled better (For those who think Derek Chauvin handled it wrong), and what they would have done in such a situation.

Yep, that discussion makes more sense - but I think a lot of people are probably retards when it comes to that too. Dealing with some massive (he was like 6'6 right?), drugged out criminal, who was behaving erratically, etc. person. It's easy to say with HINDSIGHT (now knowing what the end result was) "oh he did xyz wrong, and should have done this instead" without considering what it would be like to actually be in that situation themselves.

A case was made, and he was convicted. We'll never know with certainty what happened, but a jury of your peers concluded it was beyond a reasonable doubt. Whether you want to abstractly blame it on racism is a distinct matter that no one can prove.

Yeah it's definitely one of those situations where it's easy to criticise, but actually put in the situation a lot of people would panic and do something erratic.

Just due to human nature it's not a problem that can ever be solved completely. Bad apples will always socially engines their way in regardless of any precautions you take but you can reduce it significantly

Selection pool , MUCH better pay, stricter requirements to join. Among other things I dare also say better training but you can have the best training in the world but if you are training a pos at heart UT doesn't do much good.

It's an internal problem that can only be truly helped internally. .

The "REAL and TRUE badge holders know what should needs to be done. Just a question of getting certain people to do it.
