I dont know about wife but you should have no issues in Thailand as long as you have a pocket full of bhat.

Singapore is more like a normal place so you have to meet them like you would in any civilized place for the most part.

Ride the subway around in Singapore to get out of the tourist areas to see more of the place. Its safe and fun to do. srs
