If you get trespassed from a store, are you required to speak to the police?

I thought you only had to speak to the police if you've committed a crime or are under suspicion of committing a crime.

Seems like if a store wants to ban you then that's a civil matter, not a criminal matter, like an argument with your roommate over rent money.

But in videos online where someone gets trespassed from a store, it seems like the police get involved

criminal trespass is defined as unlawful entry onto the land of another

jurisdictions vary but its a crime.

I've never stuck around long enough after being asked to leave a place to find out what happens if you don't comply with their wishes.

It also helps that I don't get asked to leave places.

If a store bans you, and at the same time an officer is at the store, and he says "Hey let me see your ID," are you required to speak with him? Can you walk away instead?

I thought you only had to speak with the police if you've broken the law or are under suspicion of breaking the law. Otherwise you can always say "I don't wish to talk with you officer" and walk away
