Has anyone ever seen this style of general tso chicken

Most every where you go it's the tradtionall general tso that has the orange brown looking sauce

There use to be a Chinese restaurant down from my house. Who's general tsos sauce was black and it was a thin sauce almost like a soy sauce but it was a ginger sauce . It was really good but I have not found a place since then that made it and no one has ever seen it

Anyone know what I am referring to?
