BYOB to dinner party - rude or acceptable?

What better place to ask a social etiquette question than the misc, right?

Would you be put off if someone came to dinner at your house with a bottle of good wine or champagne and they asked you to open it there and then?

Last time I went to this friend's house for dinner I brought a nice bottle of champagne and the friend took it with an enthusiastic "thanks!" like it was a host gift so I did not ask him to open it. I brought it because he insists on serving the sh*ttiest of wine and I wanted my drink of choice. These friends asked us over again and this time I want to bring wine and champagne to share with the other couples because this guy is so damn cheap and insists on serving same sh*tty wine.

Is it acceptable bring it and ask right away if he can open it and offer it to everyone?

Dude, I'm gonna type as sober as possible, that honestly looks ****ing pathetic and disgusting compared to my wine. And I'm being one hundred percent serious. Sorry we don't serve **** that was previously in cans. Don't ever bring your ****ing families poverty wine on here ever the fuk again bro, and by bro I mean never my bro, ****ing nerd. You're a fuking joke dude, and I'm dead ****ing serious. Get a real family that cooks good food, drinks beer and wine and winecoolers and has a good ****ing time, and has a millionaire house on the beach. I'm serious.

It's not rude if you tell him you brought for him and his guests.

Bring multiple. One as a gift, the rest to consume during the party.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Like during college when someone would come over with a sixer of good beer just for themselves and keep it in their car. Works even better during winter so it stays cold.

Wisconsin.

It's either in the car or keep it in a bag beside your chair in the living room and don't get up until it's gone.

he sounds like me.what kind of alcohol are you thinking of bringing?oh ok.i reread the post.well. etiquette dictates that you gave it to him as a gift so its his to do as he wants.but as the host he should be serving the better drinks to his guests.unless you give him some super rare and expensive bottle he should serve it as a good host.its up to you at this point.if you brought it to be served you should let him know you feel it should be shared with guests.

He has horrible taste in wine and his wife isn't a drinker so it's either his good beer which he has a small quantity of or the plentiful red wine swill _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_"

Every party should always be BYOB. Whatever brand you like, bring enough for everyone else. Actually everyone who attends a party should be brinign beverages.

It's better to have way too much than too little.
Everything I post is satire.
