I've been to Cartagena probably 10 times. Obviously Medellin is still a cool place, but it's a real legit city and not as many people know english there. There's lots of cool tourist chit to do there, but the sex tourism aspect isn't quite as "in your face" and requires a bit more logistical planning.

Also, Cartagena is really safe within the walled city(the only people that mess with you are the cops looking for bribes). In Medellin although it's generally safe, it's this massive city of 4 million people and can be kind of dark and not as great a place to be solo. In Cartagena, you'll meet lots of other guys who are there by themselves and just smashing bitches for like 3 days, and you'd never really have a reason to go anywhere that could be considered unsafe.
