Need some constructive criticism for my YouTube channel srs

Dear brahs,

I need some honest critique of my YouTube channel. It’s called Clinical Chronicles

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrT...TKO2hb3QyPYeBw

Is it a better hook? Better voice? What can be improved upon?

Im a doctor so it’s mainly an educational channel talking about lifestyle and medicine.

Naturally I made it in the hopes of it aiding me in escaping the grind.

I want to make it better. I have decent amount of views, but not so much subs - shameless ask for all misc bros to subscribe if this kind of stuff vibes with you

Help an honest OG misc brah escape the grind through this online hustle. I will be forever grateful

So let me get this straight, youre looking to escape the grind of being a doctor by giving out medical advice on youtube?

Stop trolling me son.

Look up a channel called Ali Abdaal, or JJ Medicine, or Zero to Finals and then come and say the same thing.

Doctors in the UK make a certain amount.

What’s wrong with my ambition? I want it to aid and then who knows, maybe one day escape.

-you're talking kind of fast. Maybe slow it down a little bit like how Eric Berg talks

-I wouldn't want to show my face either, but I think not showing your face puts you at a big disadvantage on youtube. People want to see a face

-I would just try to emulate Eric Berg because he's killing it on youtube

Il look into him.

Thank you. The exact kind of stuff I want to hear.

Yea the showing my face thing I still havent accepted fully. Not sure if I want to do it yet. Plenty of channels around that dont do it, but for sure I would have more success if my face was in the corner or something like that

Thumbnails needs work. It looks like a generic Powerpoint slide an 8th grader would make.

Seems very educational so just keep it up boyo. I would change the "Hi and welcome to my channel" to something else on the channel page. To what, I have no idea. "Medical advice for a better life" or something cheesy like that SRS

Start making videos with thumbnails that say...

"Is IQ real?" with a heat map of the blue world centered on africa as red.
"Was it the booster" thumbnail of recent dead celebrity

Once that putters out, start making radicle claims about roots from southeast asian curing blindness and chit.

I like what I see.

That said of course there is always room to improve. You obviously have a ton of good knowledge but youtube if you notice something about popular youtubers, they pretty much will stick to a small range of topics even even that many and just make numerous videos about it.

Realistically how many people are going to go to youtube to look up diverticulitis? Probably not as many as are looking for weight loss, hair loss, that sort of stuff.

You dont have to be something for everything and everybody. Stick more with one or two topics and give people that information and I bet it will be more popular.

Good start though. I did learn something about diverticulitis today.

The first thing I noticed that is it did seem like ppt presentation as well. While the video I watched was informative it seemed like a presentation you would give in school versus a youtube video.

Popular youtube channels are almost always tailored for the ADHD crowd. Meaning a particular screen only last a few seconds and usually there is some sort of picture that goes along with as you are describing. The constant refreshing keeps eyes glued.

Example of what I am describing.

Also, pay attention to how they talk. Very little pause in between points while being very authoritative/assertive. Unironically, try to be alpha. Someone else said you talk too fast, but honestly there should be some speed to what you say because youtube is tailored to low attention span viewers. You almost want to present information so quickly that the viewer doesn't have time to fully process. If they are still processing, their minds aren't spending time wondering about what other youtube videos they could be watching.

This might not be your style though. Maybe describe in more detail what style you are going for if it isn't.

1) you sound like you're whispering...why in the FOOK are you whispering in a video? Speak audibly and at a good volume. Maybe get a better mic to pick up the audio better.

2) Bored out of my mind watching this. I think you'd get even more interaction if you made this enjoyable.

3) BUT the content is the main thing and you obviously know what you're talking about....I'd just watch other popular videos on this. DO SHORTS. Show your face for ultimate engagement. There is a GAME DEV who does youtube shorts where he shows his face on th etop half and does illustrations on the bottom half. EXCHANGE the white backgorund for BLACK. It has more draw for some reason.

Just my advise, as I have 10 followers on youtube. I know what I'm talking about.

Most of them record a sentence then stop and repeat, so that every thing they say has strong inflection

Ironically enough Diverticulitis is my most hot topic and where most of my traction comes from.
But im trying to angle towards a crowd younger than 60 years old - according to my analytics thats where all my subs are from.

Noted your input, thank you

At this point I am like a sponge, trying to absorb as much about how the viewer game works and adapt accordingly.

My views are great imo - im on target to get monetised, but still halfway there in terms of getting 1K subs.

Constantly pumping out the videos weekly.

The idea generation is not a problem at all, i have the knowledge - it’s making the product as attractive as possible that my amateur azz needs improving.

For the moment im using apple Keynote on the IPad to make the videos, thats why it seems PowerPointy. If im not going to show my face im not sure how I can do it any other way.

Thanks again for all the input brahs, keep it going and it actually fills me with energy to keep it going

Thumbnails could be better.
Who’s your target audience? That’s the most important question. You need to look into the demographics of YouTube users and appeal to the demographic of your choice.

Il look into the thumbnails a bit more.

Target audience is difficult for me. I could go full educational and target the medical crew, or I could go a bit more laid back and target the general audience with overall health. Like I said the idea generation is not the issue.

For the moment I think im doing a bit of both, which probably isnt helping

Wow, cool video on diverticulitis. Subbed.

I had a rare case of that and ended up in emergency surgery to have part of my colon removed. My gastro surgeon was pretty shocked as apparently I'm way too young to get it lmao, lucky me. I was about 29 at the time.

Almost had to live the rest of my life pooping into a bag attached to my stomach.

I’d toss in a little humor. If done correctly, it can make the video more interesting without seeming unprofessional. Also, the mic thing.

It’s noticeably not production quality. I’d also put some focus on tone and delivery. As superficial as it sounds, how you express information is about as important as what you say to the general public. It’s why people in fields that focus on audience engagement, like comedy (Carlin, Chappelle, etc), treat speaking similarly to how others create music. There is a rhythm. You aren’t just educating, you are entertaining.
