Ohtani gets $700 million to play for the Dodgers.

First of all, good for him. He might be the most talented baseball player of all time.

The Angels is a badly run organization, they had Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani and still never made a playoff can you believe that?

I mean that organization won a world series and then went back to the losing ways, Albert Pujols who was the GOAT with the Cardinals got the massive deal with Angels and then fell off the face of the earth.

The one really sad thing is Robert's managing him now.

Can't wait to see Ohtani pulled after 8 innings of a perfect game because he's thrown 99 pitches.

I think ohtani is the goat for his past couple seasons but his pitching arm is cooked boyos

He may never pitch successfully again.

I also see him aging poorly after 30. He's 29.

They will be paying him 70 mill a year from age 35 to 39.......

Might be a terrible contract all things considered

Might be a terrible contract? Have any of these idiotic long term massive contracts for position players actually worked out?

I'm an O's fan and I'd way rather keep building through the farm system and trading great players in their last year than paying some dude $60M+ so that you have zero flexibility to make any other moves.

All for one dude who can only impact the game so much. And one who may never be the same pitcher again.

when he was pitching and hitting it was actually worth it. he WAS impacting the game that much. he was basically a cy young level pitcher with an MVP level bat. thats actually worth 70 milion easy

he tore his elbow ligament this summer and had tommy john surgery in 2019...... not a good injury history. hes a complete risk now for his arm and I say that as someone that thinks what he did the past 3-4 seasons makes him possibly the best baseball player of all time......

hes not even pitching in 2024 season.....

The guys with that kind of talent almost always go to a team from some crime infested ghetto dump of a megatropolis city. American sports in a nutshell. And yes, that includes college teams too, especially now that they get actual salaries there too over the last few years. It's a huge part of what has made sports borderline unwatchable the past couple decades. Good for him getting paid, but his personal good fortunes don't change any of what I said here.

I'm not even a baseball fan anymore and agree with this assessment. Guys who are injury prone never suddenly turn into Cal Ripken Jr for 8 seasons. Maybe if he stops pitching he can string together some solid years at the plate, but is that worth $700 mil?

When i attended a 3 game series at Dodger stadium it was mostly Latino fans; now if you add the Ohtani fans, the general baseball fans, and the Asian fans, that place will be sold out bigly for every game.
