Haley criticized for answer about Civil War
https://nypost.com/2023/12/28/news/n...ar-word-salad/
Nikki Haley was asked by a voter in New Hampshire tonight about the cause of the Civil War. “I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do,” Haley answered.
.
.
.
Cliffs: Haley asked what caused Civil War. She didn't mention slavery. Liberals scream racism.

I wonder if we finally found a war she wasn't in favor of?
... and to her actual answer and the reaction, who cares. We give screeching people way too much power over us by caring what they say. Slavery certainly was part of the reason for the civil war but not the only issue and what Haley mentioned was a major factor. Should have probably mentioned slavery, but I don't think her lack of it matters all that much.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Yeah, but the liberals are correct about this one srs.
The civil warwasabout state’s rights, but that being state’s rights to own slaves.
Southerners like Haley delude themselves into believing there was some greater cause and cling to the idea that Lincoln was some evil oppressor while the Confederates were freedom fighters akin to our founding fathers. It’s all bullchit revisionism. They were violent low IQ rednecks who committed treason against our nation. If you read Thomas Sowell’s book ‘Black Rednecks and White Liberals’, he explains the source of ghetto culture today comes from the lifestyle of people who led a revolt against America in the 19th century. The rednecks. Why do certain conservatives idolize these degenerate turncoats? Not only did they enslave blacks because they were too lazy to pick their own cotton, they subjugated poor white southerners too. They were violent rat scumbags.
Inb4 someone accuses me of being a whiny liberal. Not at all. I don’t even agree with destroying the confederate statues. They should be preserved as a piece of history, probably in museums instead of public squares, but not demolished. I just feel like honoring people who committed treason against our country through monuments or insurrectionist battle flags (REAL insurrectionists) is the most pathetic cucked chit you can do. Don’t call yourself an American patriot if you do.
It makes sense that Haley sympathizes with the CSA though since even in the context of the modern world she loves Ukraine and Israel more than America.

I hate Haley but she is right. She should have mentioned slavery as being a major issue because not doing so gives whiney libs a reason to go after her, but there were already politicians in southern states wanting to succeed for a variety of reasons.
The railroad was a huge issue. The south had spent large sums of money building rail lines all through the south. The US government demanded the tracks be removed and rebuilt using the same gauge the north had.
(The tracks in the south would not match up with the ones in the north, width-wise). That also meant buying/building new engines and rail cars. They were basically told to start over. There were so many disagreements
on taxes and tariffs and how things should be done that it just reached a boiling point when it came to slavery. The civil war was bound to happen regardless of the slavery issue due to a lack of leadership in the north and south.
Of course you can't say that publicly now days or you risk being called a racist, or an apologist for slavery, or whatever. History often gets rewritten by the victors. That shouldn't make it wrong to state facts.

Birdbrain also supported “Confederate History Month” when she was first running in 2010. She’s a fuking retard. What about honoring the 300k American soldiers who gave their lives to preserving the Union? Might as well declare a Benedict Arnold holiday if you’re going that route. You can’t claim to be America First and then keep a hard on for a failed rebellion that happened 160 years ago.

If you could ask a politician one question, why the hell would you ask them about the civil war?
Maybe if it was abe lincoln or something but out of all the issues we currently face, the civil war is sort of low on the list of concerns.

No matter how Haley answered, it opened the door for criticism based on something she has said or done previously.

She wants to send Americans overseas to die for Israel and Ukraine.
She wants to kill national sovereignty through open borders.
She will do everything her WEF handlers tell her to do. There is no difference between Haley and Dubya or Killary.

whether you want to argue it was over slavery, or over states rights, or southern states feeling like they were back in taxation with little representation scenario, or some of all of that, her answer was still dumb.

It would be nice if our POTUS had a well rounded knowledge of the country's history, but we're waaaaay outside of that universe of expectation with the current crop of retard candidates.
It would also be nice if they were adept at politics and able to easily give the expected answers to transparent gotcha questions.

Thr American Civil War and world War 2...
The only two wars where the world would have been a much better place if the losers won.

As for the second civil War, since the American Revolution was our first civil war, you're claiming that Northerners were so progressive that they were willing to fight a war for black rights???
And why did Lincoln wait till January 1st, 1863 to free the slaves?
And think about this, the second Civil War ended April 9th,1865. Slavery was ended in the US, on December 6th 1865.

There are some questions. It doesn't matter how you answer it someone will find some way to make it look bad or wrong when in reality it's harmless.

sounds like she did some research into the topic, because that is a smart 1 line summary of the civil war, especially for a woman.
next time she better just stick to the script i guess "can you ask me something else, like how pro Israel i am or how dedicated i am to shutting down your freedom of speech to fight antisemitism"
